OBGE Peer Mentors for 2023-2024

We are pleased to announce the new group of OBGE Peer Mentors for the 2023-2024 academic year. These mentors will be involved in welcoming the incoming students at the OBGE orientation on August 21, leading Gateway Groups in the BIOTRAIN 701 course for first year students in the Fall and mentoring student groups as they develop case studies in the RCR BIOTRAIN 751 course in the Spring. The peer mentors receive training during the summer so they are ready when the new students arrive. The Peer Mentors also receive 1 RCR credit and a $1000 stipend. We are so grateful to the OBGE Peer Mentors for the practical advice and wisdom they can share with the incoming students to make their transition to graduate school easier!

What are the key advantages of this additional training experience, when is it valuable to get postdoctoral experience, and when is it reasonable or even preferable to navigate your career without postdoc training? In this webinar, we will discuss the various considerations of doing a postdoc after graduate school.
