Graduate Student Spotlight: Jonathan Cox

Growing up in East Tennessee, Jonathan Cox spent hours exploring the natural areas in and around Knoxville, flipping over rocks and looking for salamanders and insects. Now a graduate student in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Cox's research focuses on the loss of the Eastern hemlock, and how that affects salamanders.

During these days of social distancing, UT faculty can be assured that the Office of Research and Engagement (ORE) continues to serve their research endeavors, albeit remotely. Staff in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and Research Development (RD) continue to be available through Zoom meetings, phone calls, and emails.

The 24th Annual Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement (EUReCA) took place earlier this week. Although it was the 24th time this event has been held, it was the first to be held virtually! In fact, UT was the first university in the country to host a virtual poster symposium of this kind.
In an effort to provide support to faculty in an evolving environment, the Science Alliance has issued a modified Joint Directed Research Development (JDRD) call for proposals focusing on areas of relevance to the COVID-19 pandemic.
