SERVE Program at UT
The University of Tennessee has found another way to support its veterans through a new program initiated by a grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR): the Shaping Experiential Research for Veteran Education program (SERVE), which aims to engage veterans in experiences that address research priorities of the US Navy and boost the number of veterans with graduate degrees in STEM fields.

HRPP Removes Restrictions on In-person Research

The HRPP strongly encourages any human subjects research that can be performed without in-person contact to continue in that manner. However, the HRPP is removing the previous restrictions on in-person research
Also, UT encourages all faculty, students, postdocs, and staff to continue to pursue their research, scholarship, and creative work while implementing practices that mitigate transmission of the novel coronavirus. 
ORE Resumes SARIF Funding

Trevor Keen and Kavish Imam, from UT's Department of Physics, are the most recent winners of the Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research Awards (SCGSR). Students who win funding through the program have thesis research opportunities working with scientists at DOE national laboratories.

The Substance Misuse and Addiction Resource for Tennessee (SMART) Policy Network was created in 2020 to support UT's efforts around substance misuse and abuse, providing user-friendly and accessible data visualizations on substance misuse prevention, recovery and treatment metrics for Tennessee communities

UT College of Law's Maurice Stucke has been extensively cited in a report titled “Investigation of Competition in Digital Markets” released this month by the US House of Representatives. Stucke is cited 22 times in the 449-page report released by the House Judiciary Committee’s Antitrust Subcommittee.
NSF Mid-career Funding
Naval Horizons is a new video education series from the Office of Naval Research, designed for STEM students. As part of the program, ONR is offering a $200 stipend to the first 3,000 students who watch the videos and share their ideas on “reimagining Naval power.”
