Study, Snack, and Connect at Grad Night In

Make headway on studying and your final assignments in the company of fellow Mason grad students at Grad Night InGraduate Student Life is holding our last Grad Night In of the semester this Thursday, Dec. 5. Coffee, tea, and a variety of snacks will be provided, so bring your textbooks and laptops and prepare to study and socialize!

2020 Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference: Call for Proposals

Submission Deadline: Friday, Jan. 31 at 5:00pm
Mason's Graduate and Professional Student Association (GAPSA) invites students to participate in the 2020 Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference on Friday, March 27, 2020. This one-day event will showcase graduate student research and scholarly and creative works across disciplines, and also features Mason's Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition.

Submit a proposal for a poster, oral, or visual/performing arts presentation by Jan. 31 at 5:00pm. Look at your research projects and papers from this semester and see what you can fashion into a proposal! This is also a great way to get feedback on early or late stages of your thesis or dissertation work!

Fall 2019 Off-Campus Housing Fair

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 11:30am-1:30pm in Dewberry Hall, Johnson Center (Fairfax Campus)
The Office of Contemporary Student Services is hosting its Fall 2019 Off-Campus Housing Fair on December 10, 2019! From 11:30am to 1:30pm, multiple properties from the local area will be present in Dewberry Hall to speak with individuals interested in leasing with them.
Additionally, Contemporary Student Services will be on-site to help answer any questions you have regarding signing a lease/off-campus living. If you have any questions, please email Contemporary Student Services. We look forward to seeing you there!

Looking for ways to start getting recognized in your field? Want to boost the visibility of your research or professional qualifications? Join Graduate Student Life and University Career Services for this workshop focusing on creating your professional brand and networking.
In this workshop, we’ll discuss what a professional brand is and outline steps to identify and create your own professional brand plan. We will also identify resources and strategies for networking and developing professional relationships in your field both in person and virtually. There will also be an opportunity to practice your elevator pitch!

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition

Registration deadline February 7, 2020
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition where PhD candidates present their doctoral research to a non-specialist audience using only a single visual aid—all in three minutes. Finalists will compete at the annual Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference on Friday, March  27, 2020, for over $2,000 in prize monies. 

Registration for the 2020 3MT® competition opens this month. Doctoral students who have advanced to candidacy by the registration deadline (February 2020) are eligible to participate.
