Below is a list of optional tours that go above and beyond what we have already included in your trip package. You must wait to book your tours once you arrive but let us know in advance which ones interest you so that we can already start preparing for you!

CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

GUIDED DAY HIKE

Minimum 2 people

90US per person - group rates may apply. Includes park entrance, packed lunch and professional local guide.

Visit the wild and beautiful Corcovado National Park, considered the crown jewel of Costa Rica. Entry to the park is recommended with a licensed local guide and requires a reservation. Your guide will tell you all about the park's interesting history and will point out exotic wildlife as you hike the main trail following the ocean. You might spot anything from small amphibians like poison dart frogs to large forest cats like pumas! Having access to the guide's strong telescope will allow you to see some of the more hidden animals such as small tropical birds and tree dwellers. You can even use it to take close-up photos with your smartphone or camera of monkeys and more!

SUNSET HORSEBACK RIDING
Minimum 2 people

65US - 125US per person (depends on location and choice of tour)

Follow our local guide to see stunning views of the ocean and Corcovado National Park in the distance. Ride under the jungle canopy where you can encounter monkeys, tropical birds and many other species. Gallop or run on the beach as you return at sunset. This ride provides a great opportunity to unwind and truly enjoy the wonders of the tropical forest.

SUNSET LAGOON KAYAKING

Minimum 4 people

45US per person

Take this fully guided kayak tour on the Perriperito Lagoon in Carate. Simply hike along the beach, them hop on a kayak and explore the calm waters that are home to numerous species of birds, lizards, as well as American crocodiles and caymans. This tour is offered in the late afternoon, a perfect time to enjoy a cool breeze and a stunning sunset.

DOLPHIN BOAT TOUR &

WILDLIFE REFUGE
Minimum 5 people

75US per person + a 25US donation to the animal refuge if you choose to visit.

This tour is generally offered on your way out. Visit the small town of Puerto Jimenez and embark on a half-day boat tour of the Golfo Dulce, one of the deepest tropical fjords in the world. Humpback whales come from both poles to the Golfo Dulce to have their young in the warm tropical waters and three species of dolphins can be spotted year-round. Swim with colourful fish and discover an underwater paradise. Visit a local refuge only accessible by boat where animals are rescued from captivity to be released into the wild. Have the rare opportunity to interact with monkeys, sloths, tropical birds and more. This is a trip not to be missed.

ZIP LINE CANOPY TOUR

Minimum 4 people

Zip from seven different platforms high over the jungle canopy. See incredible views and wildlife as you glide through the trees on lines as long as 1200 feet! This tour is safe for all ages, and lasts approximately one hour, depending on the size of the group.

WATERFALL RAPPELLING TOUR

Have you ever tried rappelling? If so, you know how exciting it can be, and if not, well here's your chance! Hike to a four-tier waterfall with two professional guides at our neighbouring lodge El Remanso. Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you rappel against a torrent of flowing waters. This tour lasts approximately 4 hours.

SURFING IN MATAPALO
Minimum 4 people

65US per person, including all equipment and instruction.

Experience some of the best waves in the area. Three different beaches provide waves that are perfect for all skill levels. For beginners, try a lesson with local professional surfers from our local Surf School. Time of your lesson will depend on the tides.

TREE CLIMBING IN MATAPALO
Minimum 2 people

65US per person

Climb an enormous Strangler Fig, roughly 70 feet to a viewing roost 450 feet over the Golfo Dulce. The level of difficulty is determined by the "root" that you select (pun intended). After exploring the lofty perch and view of the ocean, an exhilarating free fall/swing brings you safely back to solid ground.

CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

THREE-DAY EXPEDITION

Price depends on group size and will be confirmed at time of booking.

Join our guide on a three-day/two-night trek into the famous Corcovado National Park. Hike 19 kilometres into the rainforest, where you will wade through shallow rivers, cross long stretches of beach and hike beneath the rainforest canopy. Here you will have the rare opportunity to spot incredible wildlife such as tapirs, anteaters, sloths, armadillos, coatis and more. If you're lucky, you might even spot a puma!

NOTE This three-day trek includes all park fees, guide, meals and accommodation. Recommended as an add-on at the end of your stay. Please confirm your interest at time of booking. Reservations are subject to availability and can only be reserved one month ahead. Prices can only be officially confirmed at time of booking. Expect to pay +/- 500USD plus your transportation for a 2- nights / 3 days adventure in the park.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation costs vary depending on the site of the activity. The cost is generally around 20US per person one way based on four people sharing. If less than four people, there will be an additional fee for transportation as the cost is divided by the number of people participating in the activity.

RESERVATIONS & PAYMENTS

All tours can be arranged once on-site. There is no commitment needed in advance except for the three-day tour into Corcovado National Park. Payment for the tours is done at the beginning of your stay in USD cash so please bring sufficient funds. Once you book your spot (you'll be asked to sign up officially), tours are non-refundable unless cancelled by the provider. Note that the price is subject to change and that some tours may not be available if we do not have the minimum number of people required. That being said, in most cases, we can organize any tour only that the price of the tour may change.

ONCE HERE...

Many other activities will be available to you once on-site, such as one or two complimentary yoga classes and daily discovery walks, all of which are included in your package. Remember that you can always explore the area in smaller groups, as some trails are easy to follow. However, please be aware of your surroundings at all times and always remember to look down before you look up.... you might be standing on the trail of leaf-cutter ants!
