School of Public Health (SPH) key updates |
SPH faculty policies aim to expand the public health expertise at WashU through primary appointments for select internal faculty, a high prioritization on interdisciplinary joint appointments, and external recruitment of leaders in PH fields.
Policies are drafted to support SPH interest from all tracks and all schools and have been reviewed by the Provost. Timing and processes related to SPH faculty hiring will be jointly determined by the Provost and the SPH Dean.

The Office of Public Health (OPH) will increase the readiness and accelerate the decision-making of the inaugural dean by providing infrastructure and resource summaries. The OPH has begun to map activities using a phased approach from 2024–28+. This spring, in partnership with university partners and key stakeholders, the OPH is sourcing information to inform proposals for the SPH educational, administrative, research, and innovation incubators divisions. Decisions related to the school's divisions will be determined by SPH dean upon his/her arrival.

Arts & Sciences Public Health & Society undergraduate program |
Course staffing for the Fall of 2024 is now complete. In response to strong student interest, LPH 1000 'Foundations in Public Health' has been established and will be co-taught by both E.A. Quinn, MPH, PhD, and Diana Parra Perez, PhD. Additionally, proposals for both the Public Health & Society major and minor are in development with next step milestones taking place in March and April.
| SPH timeline & CEPH Accreditation |
The School of Public Health accreditation timeline continues to move successfully toward key 2024 milestones. The CEPH application has been reviewed internally and is on track for submission in June.
The Recruitment and Nomination Committee will be engaging with candidates via confidential, in-person visits anticipated to take place this spring. The announcement of the inaugural dean will be candidate dependent with the potential of being made known spring/summer of 2024.
