The Pillar Press: August 2021
Greetings from St. Paul Christian Academy and welcome, alumni, to the first edition of our quarterly alumni e-newsletter, The Pillar Press. We hope this will be the first of many communications that we share with you about school news, upcoming events, and updates on your fellow alumni, near and far.
I am Amy Richardson, Director of Annual Fund and Alumni Relations, and while I am new to this position and new to St. Paul, I am not new to Nashville or this role. I have lived in Nashville for over twenty years and have over ten years of experience in development and alumni relations with another independent school here in Nashville. My two children have also joined the St. Paul family: Laurel in first grade and Garrett in junior kindergarten. We look forward to continuing to be part of this special community.
This is a very exciting year for the school, and we want to invite you to be a part of it, reconnect with classmates and teachers, and help us celebrate St. Paul’s 50th Anniversary. As we kick off the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the St. Paul experience, Will Norton, Head of School, and I look forward to getting to know you. We invite you to share with us any news you have about yourself—employment updates, special awards or recognitions, or life events such as getting married or becoming a parent. We just want to celebrate you through any milestone, big or small!
Share Your Good News Here
We’re so grateful that your story is a part of our story, and I hope to have the opportunity to connect with you in the future. In the meantime, I wish you the best and am happy to answer any questions about St. Paul!

Andrew Uchrin, Class of '21

Andrew Uchrin from the St. Paul Class of 2021 made a hole-in-one with an 8 iron on the 128-yard par 3 #12 at Ted Rhodes Golf Course during 7th-grade golf team tryouts at MBA. Did we mention he also finished first place with an 18 hole score of 70 on a par 72 course? Way to go, Andrew! Great things ahead for you!

Mitchell Tenpenny, Class of '02

Mitchell Tenpenny from the St. Paul Class of 2002 is a country music singer-songwriter in Nashville and was recently interviewed alongside Chris Young by People Magazine about their shock and excitement at the turnout for their most recent music video. After pulling together an impromptu concert in July, Young and Tenpenny assumed and hoped around 1,500 people would attend as background concertgoers for their new music video. To their surprise, over 15,000 people showed up to hear the country stars play! The video and new hit song were a smashing success, and we are so proud of you, Mitchell, for your dedication to your talent and hard-earned accomplishments! Alexandra Koehn, Class of '03

How do we keep up with the news at St. Paul? Follow Alexandra Koehn, NewsChannel 5 Reporter from the St. Paul Class of 2003, of course! Alexandra made her start in reporting during her college days with The Michigan Beat. While there, she uncovered a federal investigation into a lead abatement program after discovering that $2,000,000 of federal grant money was missing or misplaced. This story was just the start of her career, and now you can find her on your local news report. We are so proud and grateful for her coverage of important topics in Nashville. Thank you, Alexandra, for keeping us informed! To read more and follow her on social media, click here.

Our playground is used by every St. Paul student every day, and this outdoor space is not only the epicenter of our campus for recess and childhood fun, but it is also an important extension of the classroom. Our vision last year was to enhance our students’ experience by creating a safe, unified design that includes new, innovative play structures that encourage challenging play and updates the equipment we know our students love. After consulting with students, teachers, and playground experts, St. Paul has the opportunity to build a playground that provides a whole new landscape for outdoor play that students of all ages will enjoy. We are so excited to announce that Phase 1 has been completed, and we invite you and our entire community to partner with St. Paul to bring more of this new playground to life for our students!
