Dear Community,
How is it February? January was so, so, much. The inauguration already feels moons ago. I made a 1-minute mashup film to convey all the different emotions I felt that day and for this new chapter. I also made a 30-second reel of some of my heroes for Black History Month that you can watch here.
Here in Northern California, my maple tree branches are starting to do that thing where they look pink from afar thanks to the buds starting to sprout. Feels like spring is somewhere out there. Looking forward to buds blooming and more people getting vaccinated.
I wanted to give a blooming shout out to two people who help me create these newsletters: Sawyer Steele, my wonderful filmmaking partner at our Let it Ripple Film Studio who is my collaborator in so many things; and Jenny Traig, an amazing writer, whose recent book is a history of parenting called Act Natural, who keeps me laughing. I feel so lucky to work with two people for over 15 years here at our studio that I also consider very close friends.
This month of love also seems to be the month of books. Some of my best friends are coming out with books in February. I also curated a selection of books for a new app founded by Padmasree Warrior called Fable, which allows you to read together with friends around a theme. All info below.
Today is the last day of The Sundance Film Festival and I highly recommend you watch their inspiring 3 minute intro video narrated by Robert Redford that I was honored to have a cameo in. Definitely keep an eye out for their films. A list of the ones that took home prizes last night are here.
So whether you are in the snow or sunshine or both, let this newsletter be fertile soil to watch and read and grow... while we all wait our turns to get vaccinated.
To buds forming,
Tiffany
