Senior Spotlight – Naoemi Idemudia graduated yesterday ranked #4 in the Open HS Class of 2024. In the fall, Naoemi will attend the College of William & Mary where she plans to major in psychology with a concentration in child development. To the incoming senior class, she shares the following advice: "Meet. Your. Deadlines. On time! Rushing at the last minute has always been a struggle for me, so I hope others can learn from my timely mistakes. You got this!"

Going Places – We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Armstrong HS senior Devon Epps, Jr. to learn more about his experience as an RPS student and the impact it had on his decision to enlist in the U.S. Army. It's clear Devon is #GoingPlaces! Devon, on behalf of your RPS family, I want to thank you in advance for your service and we wish you all the best as you head to basic training. Watch the video below, and don't forget to follow our Instagram page for more senior sit-downs.

- I would like to take a moment to thank every member of the middle school faculty and staff at Franklin Military Academy. This has been an amazing 6th grade experience because of how you all show up each and every day. I'm grateful that you all lead with love each day. A special shout-out to Cpt. Elie for being a great teacher and Col. Hudson for being the best principal in RPS!
- As we wrap up an incredible year at Chimborazo, we cannot let this moment pass without shining a spotlight on Ashley Allen, our phenomenal math coach. In our first year under her guidance and leadership, we've witnessed a transformation in our math program, culminating in a 10-plus percentage point increase in proficiency scores! Way to go, Ms. Allen, and all the Chimbo math teaching teams!
- I want to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Mercedes Howell for being the best first grade teacher at Broad Rock Elementary. Thank you for all that you do for the students and for working hard every day. You’re truly the best and RPS is lucky to have a teacher like you.
- It will be a challenge articulating just how much of an impact Dr. Cynthia Robinson from the Richmond Virtual Academy has had on my teaching journey this past year. I came to the RVA Nest disillusioned with the educational system as a whole, and was making plans to leave the field entirely until, with such love, kindness, and thoughtful consideration for her staff, Dr. Cynthia Robinson turned that completely around and made me believe in this profession again. She treated me like a human, a professional, and an individual all at the same time. She supported me in all my professional endeavors and had my back each and every time without batting an eye and with such grace. She saw my strengths and upheld the highest of standards to improve upon weaknesses…and for all of this I will be forever be grateful to this dynamic administrator, leader, mentor, and truly utterly amazing person. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Robinson, for being you.
- Heartfelt appreciation to the following outstanding RVA staff and support team who attended RVA's first graduation last night, demonstrating their support for our seniors and all RVA scholars. We are grateful to Dr. Cyndi Robinson, our gracious leader; Mrs. M. Brooks and Mrs. T. Lindfors, our dedicated coaches; Mr. C. Jeter, our school counselor who has been an asset since day one; Mrs. S. Portee, RVA and RPS virtual learning coordinator; and Mrs. T. Lofton-Pickens, our instructional compliance coordinator. RVA is immensely proud of our graduating scholars and their families. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors! Hoot Hoot!
- Shout-out to Coach Rivadeneira and Coach Williamson at Cardinal Elementary School for an amazing field day! It was organized and so much fun. Thanks for all of your hard work!
- Southampton Elementary is so lucky to have the third grade team! Ms. Boscana, Ms. Daniel, Mr. Ellis and Ms. Petzold have made this year one for the books in the best way possible. We’re beyond proud to call them Southampton Tigers!
- I didn’t want the year to end without giving a shout-out to some special people at Fox. First, Nurse Hall. She has been so wonderful to my boys and I hope she knows how much she is loved and appreciated. We are very lucky to have her! A big shout-out to Coach B for an awesome field day! He put a lot of time and effort into making the day special. And also, Ms. London. She is a kind soul who loves and lends an ear to all of the kids at Fox. It’s been a hard couple of years but having these three along with all the teachers and staff is why Fox is love.
- Shout-out to Mr. Angeles for being a caring leader. I appreciate how he came around each morning just to check on the kids and say good morning. Shout-out to Dr. Clayton for being a good leader. Thank you for giving us motivation, communication, and timely leadership.
- A huge shout-out to Mr. Sides for organizing such a fun field day at Southampton Elementary! Everyone had a blast! Thank you!
- My Lucille Brown Middle schooler has loved having Juli Wayne as a history teacher the last two years. Mrs. Wayne makes history easy and interesting to learn and works to incorporate current events, too.
- Thank you to the Westover Hills Elementary staff who have worked as crossing guards this year, keeping our kids safe and the drivers in check! Especially to Alexandra Thompson, who is very diligent in making sure kids get the right of way. Thank you to Marita Harrison at Westover Hills Elementary for making your 3rd grade classroom a place to learn and grow. I have seen a lot of positive development in my child this year, and I appreciate your partnership. Thank you to Janet Hanson for all you've done with students in SPACE. I heard about sessions every week from my WHES student, and he's been taking some of the lessons learned home to keep working. I especially loved hearing about adventures with Lily, the bearded dragon.
- Shout-out to Aaron Bryant, whose time at Lucille Brown was so impactful for my 7th grader. He regularly talked about how much he enjoyed your class, and I saw him push himself more than usual this year to do well in algebra. Thank you for your dedication to learning. Thank you to Charles Ownby for all your work with theater this year. You can tell the students had a great time working on their productions, and I look forward to seeing what they accomplish next year.
