According to page 175 of Many Voices, One Journey (B‑31), the first Al‑Anon Adult Children’s group registered in 1974. But it was in the early 1980s that the number of these groups began to rapidly increase.
Beginning with 14 groups in early 1982, registered Adult Children groups numbered 81 by the end of the first quarter of 1983. By year’s end, the total was 194. Internationally, Al‑Anon Adult Children groups were on the rise in Argentina, Mexico, and Spain between 1985 and 1996.
