It's about to get chilly in the Twin Cities. The National Weather Service forecasts lows in the single digits over the next couple of days — the coldest it's been in the last year.
Is dressing for the cold a use-it-or-lose-it kind of thing? Here at Essential Minnesota, we're not taking any chances. So here's a crash course in the three Ws of layering up, courtesy of reporter Greta Kaul:
Wicking
For a base layer, look for clothing made of wool or synthetics and avoid cotton. Remember: You might still sweat even when it's cold out, and you want to stay dry.
Warmth
Fleece jackets and sweaters are the name of the game here. Bulk up and trap that heat.
Wind
Minnesotans love to say that it's not the cold, it's the wind. Well, they're right. Don an outer layer that will protect against that icy chill when it sweeps through.
