KGW: Why PDX’s New Terminal is a Game Changer for Sustainability

Did you know that the new main terminal at PDX is the largest sustainable mass timber project in the U.S.? The designers of the remodel didn't just want a terminal that looked different; they wanted one that was built differently, too.
"We want to make sure that whatever we are using for this project is sustainable," said Chief Projects Officer Vince Granato with the Port of Portland. "When we install it, we know where every piece of wood came from. That is not your traditional construction. It hasn't been done before, certainly not to this scale."
To accomplish this goal, the Port of Portland needed to essentially create a new supply chain from scratch. Read more about how this was accomplished and the partners who helped make it happen.
