Alumna Selected for #YouTubeBlack Creator Class of 2022
| |
YouTube recently announced the 135 creators who will take part in this year’s $100 million #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund. The list of inductees, comprised of tech experts, comedians, business owners and more, includes Reni Odetoyinbo (BBA ’18).
Odetoyinbo began sharing resources on personal finance and career development through her YouTube channel, xoReni, during the pandemic. As one of the only Black Canadian women in the personal finance space on YouTube, Odetoyinbo plans on leveraging #YouTubeBlack’s funding and mentorship to grow her unique voice and reach more viewers in 2022. On February 9, the School hosted an exceptional, engaging, and educational evening to celebrate RioCan’s longstanding partnership with the School and its support of the Real Estate and Infrastructure Program. Highlights included the announcement of the Edward Sonshine Scholarship and its inaugural recipient Robin Creighton (MREI ’22), and a fireside chat with Jim Clayton, Director of the Brookfield Centre of Real Estate and Infrastructure and MREI Program Director, Edward Sonshine, Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of RioCan, and Jonathan Gitlin, President and CEO of RioCan.

Class of 1969 Centennial Fellows Award Donors Blazing the Path for Student Success

On February 4, the School held a special 10th anniversary appreciation event for the Class of 1969 Centennial Fellows Award, established in 2012 by the MBA ’69 class including David MacKinnon, Fred Ward, Randy Spence, Bill Cannon, Terry Sulyma, Pierre Coté, Alan McNally, and John Graham. The award has recognized and supported 10 of Schulich’s brightest stars - students who not only have impressive academic skills and proven leadership capabilities but possess an innate sense of purpose and a desire to make a difference in their careers and communities. In attendance at this special event also were the following award recipients: Mathuri Mayakrishnan (MBA ’22 Candidate), Kristen Ferkranus (MBA ’20), James Prince (MBA ’19), Ben Rabinovitch (IMBA ’18), and Eva Mai Treumuth (MBA ’13), the award’s inaugural recipient. Konata Lake (BBA '03, MBA/JD '08), Partner, Torys LLP was the keynote speaker at The Power of Advocacy: Advancing Diversity and Inclusion of Black Talent in the Business World, a series of events in honour of Black History Month hosted by the Black Graduate Business Network (BGBN) at Schulich. All appreciated Konata's discussion about the power of advocacy and advancing black talent in the business world. Congratulations to the BGBN and thank you to the speakers and guests who made this series a success.
