The rhetoric around mistrust can be polarizing, often cornering the very people impacted by systemic injustices. Latinos, like other racial-ethnic minority groups in the United States, often harbor deep-rooted mistrust in the healthcare system due to historical injustices, such as discriminatory policies, medical practices, and unethical research studies, as well as ongoing experiences of bias and discrimination in contemporary healthcare settings. It is crucial to recognize that this mistrust is a consequence of historical injustices, rather than a reflection of community shortcomings.
