Considering Summer Courses?
Registration for summer courses opens up on March 5, 2018 and will remain open until summer courses start or become full. Students who take summer courses can benefit from the smaller class sizes and the opportunity to get ahead academically. If you’re interested in learning more about summer courses, or would like to see a list of classes available, see the Summer Courses page. Registration Forms for summer courses must be approved by your advisor and submitted to the Registrar’s Office, although you do NOT need a PIN # for summer registration. Thinking about taking a class back home during the summer? Consult your program counselor prior to registering to get pre-approval for that class.
*Please note: Financial Aid requirements are different during summer session than they are during the regular school year.
Seats Reserved for Incoming Students
Every year the University has to plan for the incoming freshmen class, and one of the requirements is that there are spaces saved in the CORE classes for the new students arriving in the Fall.  Last year there were 4000 spaces reserved in several subjects for the class of 2021. There are many classes that are reserved purely for incoming freshmen only and others that have a much lower capacity to save room for the next freshmen class.  Closed courses and those with lower capacity will announce their status in the title column online - for example ENG 107 A says RESV FTF 10, which means that 10 spaces are reserved for First Time Freshmen.  Once the other spaces are full, the course will be closed.  Please plan your schedule accordingly.

After registration for the incoming first year students is complete – usually by August 1st - the First Time Freshmen (FTF) Restriction is removed and any seats that are open are available to all students through the Portal Self-Serve using their PIN. The only classes that will not have the First Time Freshmen Restriction removed are those ENG 112, CST 107, PHL 150, MTH 162, and THE 105 sections listed as First Time Freshmen Only.

A complete list of the classes that have reserved seats will be available on the Advising website under Registration Resources soon.  If you have any questions about the First Time Freshmen Restriction or any classes that are closed, please contact Brenda Greiner, Director of the Shepard Academic Resource Center, in BC 101.

Go to the Movies with the Clark Library
The Library offers you a variety of online content, including streaming films and documentaries that you can view from anywhere at any time. An added benefit is that you can use these videos in class presentations. Films on Demand streams smoothly and it’s easy to show in class or embed video clips in PowerPoints. Docuseek2 has documentary films for easy streaming that can also be embedded.
There are also DVDs that you can check out for personal use or class presentations. They are located in two places: a selection of popular movies is shelved next to the Service Desk and the main DVD collection is shelved downstairs.

Want to find out what we have specifically? Search all of our video content in one place using UP Library Search. The trick is to search on your topic and use the Refine column on the results screen. Look there for Format and choose Streaming Video & Audio or DVD Videos to see what is available. You can also ask for help at the Service Desk or use Library Chat.
