In a few short weeks, we will welcome nearly 3,000 graduates into the alumni family. Let’s make sure our newest alumni know we are proud of their accomplishments and, like always, celebrating alongside them. Join us in celebrating the Class of 2021 by sharing a note of congratulations, a memory, or a piece of advice.

The Loyal Lakers program supports students in need through monthly giving. As Loyal Lakers, alumni give at a monthly level of $10 a month ($120 a year) to a program, fund, scholarship/endowment, or cause that is important to them. We hope to connect in person with all Loyal Lakers in the near future with networking opportunities and events.

As a result of last year’s disruption of in-person events, the presentation of our annual Alumni Awards was postponed. Those selected to receive the honor in 2020 will be saluted in October of 2021. This year’s honorees include Dr. Nicholas Ceglarek ’96 & ’99, Dr. Scott Stabler, Dr. Rachel Cardosa ’16, and Mackenzie Satkoski ’06 & ’07.

Nominations are now open for the 2022 Alumni Awards. If you would like to nominate someone for the Distinguished Alumni Award, Outstanding Educator Award, and the Young Alumni Award please review nomination requirements and access the nomination form at gvsu.edu/alumni/awards.

The winter and early spring months have been filled with a flurry of activity and success for Laker sports teams. From regular season contests to GLIAC Championships to NCAA Championships, Laker athletes are getting it done on the court, field, track, and in the pool.

As the spring sports season hits full stride, Laker fans are reminded to follow guidelines for attendance to minimize the risk and potential exposure of COVID-19 for spectators, student-athletes, and staff.

After a year-long pause due to the pandemic, GVSU athletics is excited to announce that the 2021 GVSU Football Season Ticket renewals and public sales will begin on Monday, April 12th at 9 a.m. (EST).

Read with Lakers is a virtual opportunity for alumni to connect with one another through books. Reading promotes lifelong learning by opening our minds to new ideas and perspectives. After our first Read with Lakers Discussion, we are opening the survey for all alumni to vote on the next book! The survey closes on April 14.
