State Investment Expands AGE+ Housing Initiative
|
AGE+ is honored to be selected to receive $7.8M from Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) to build Phoenix Commons, offering 40 affordable, fully accessible homes for older adults in Phoenix, Oregon, and replacing housing lost in the Almeda Fire of 2020. This funding is made possible through the Factory-Produced Housing Initiative created by House Bill 3145 in 2025, which accelerates the development of affordable modular housing throughout Oregon.
This project is about more than just building new homes. It shows how communities can meet the needs of older adults and demonstrates that housing can be built quickly while staying affordable and accessible.
We thank OHCS for leading the way in new housing solutions and are excited to help create homes where older adults can stay connected, independent, and involved.

Building Digital Health Confidence in Oregon
|
AGE+ is partnering with the Oregon ECHO Network and OHSU on the Digital Health Navigation ECHO, an 8-session virtual learning series launching fall 2026. ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) connects experts and community partners through interactive, case-based sessions to build skills and share knowledge.
In this series, AGE+ staff will help develop content focused on access to digital health tools and navigation. The program emphasizes practical learning, accessibility-centered materials, and shared problem-solving to advance digital health equity statewide.

| Building an Oregon Age Positive Network
|
AGE+ received a $180,000 grant from the Oregon Health Authority, Public Health Division to launch the Oregon Age Positive Network (OAPN), a statewide network connecting senior centers, congregate meal sites, community centers, and other trusted gathering places that support older adults and people with disabilities.
OAPN provides free peer-to-peer learning, technical assistance, and resource sharing to strengthen these essential community hubs and improve outreach to both regular participants and those aging at home. The project also maps local assets and identifies service gaps, creating stronger connections and a reliable statewide network for sharing information and coordinating support during everyday operations and public health emergencies.

Age-Friendly Disaster Planning Pilot Strengthens Emergency Response in Eastern Oregon
|
Older adults are disproportionately impacted by disasters, especially in rural areas where isolation, transportation barriers, and limited healthcare access can delay response and recovery.
To help address this gap, AGE+ is partnering with OHSU's Oregon Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) on a six-month consulting project to build connections in Eastern Oregon and deliver age-friendly disaster planning and response training to local responders.
AGE+ engaged local public health authorities and county and Tribal emergency managers to identify training needs and partnered with GWEP to deliver emergency preparedness training focused on working with older adults. So far, this free training has been piloted in The Dalles, Yellowhawk/Pendleton, Baker City, La Grande, and Enterprise.
Our work strengthens the ability to design emergency systems that reflect the realities of aging and improves outcomes statewide.
Initiative Highlight: AGE+ engaged broader statewide partners and emergency management stakeholders at the 2026 Oregon Prepared Conference hosted by the Oregon Department of Emergency Management, supporting relationship-building and laying the groundwork for continued expansion.
Pictured below is a local responder from La Grande participating in an emergency training obstacle course, experiencing firsthand how vision, mobility, and assistive devices can affect movement and response in an emergency.
