The StAAR Center offers a variety of workshops and individual support for students writing a senior thesis, capstone project, independent research paper, STEM papers, or other advanced writing project!

Write Early, Write Often: The Writing Process for Senior Thesis Writers
Monday, November 3, 12 noon – 1 p.m.
For senior honors thesis and capstone writers: This interactive workshop will help you develop writing processes that will get help you start writing early and build on your strengths as a researcher and writer while identifying and addressing the particular challenges of longer writing projects. Whether you are looking to build a regular writing habit, want to get some words on the page before the end of the semester, looking for ways to incorporate sources, or just trying to avoid procrastination, this workshop will help you understand your writing process for independent projects.
Writing the Introduction Section for a Scientific Paper or Thesis
Wednesday, November 12, 12 noon – 1 p.m.
Designed for advanced science writers and senior thesis writers in the sciences, this workshop will focus on the purpose of the Introduction, how it differs from other sections of a scientific paper, and strategies for writing one. Hands-on activities will get you started in understanding and beginning the writing process for a scientific paper or thesis.
The Care and Feeding of Your Senior Thesis During Finals and Winter Break
Monday, December 8, 12 noon – 1 p.m.
(Registration available starting November 8 or email kristina.aikens@tufts.edu to be added early.)

StAAR Center Graduate Writing Consultants are available to collaborate on: breaking ideas into sections/chapters, organization, argument, and clarity within chapters/sections, providing feedback, incorporating feedback from advisors, and more! You can meet with a consultant once or on a regular basis. Book an appointment on Tutor Finder or email Kristina.Aikens@tufts.edu to be matched with a consultant.
StAAR Center Academic Success Coaches can meet individually with students to work on time management and project management, among other topics. You can book an appointment on Tutor Finder for individual academic coaching, and/or sign up for one of our workshops on time management, project management, public speaking, and other topics relevant to senior thesis writers.
