Victoria is one of those experts who will be teaching a group of shelter dogs using entirely positive training methods. Tune in to find out whether or not dogs might fly!
A tribute to K-9 Falco of the Habersham County Sheriff's Department.
We're sad to say goodbye to a brave member of our Guardians of the Night series, K-9 Falco. Falco was a military veteran and then went on to serve the Habersham County Sheriff's Department with his beloved handler, Deputy Johnathan Thomas.
K-9 Falco was an incredible friend, protector, and partner who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Positively Contributor Debby McMullen reflects on choices and the benefits of allowing your dog to think and learn.
As a society, humans revel in their ability to make choices. We make them every day, many times a day. Cream or sugar or both? Hot or iced? Shower or bath?
Yet we expect most other species to do our bidding as we see fit, when we see fit. This is especially prevalent with the human/canine relationship. Dogs, as a general rule, are very forgiving. They accept what we dish out. But shouldn’t they get some say over what their worlds consist of?
The world of dog training has made leaps and bounds in the last couple of decades, but still the choices that are offered to dogs are few compared to what we humans enjoy.
Stress-Free Vacation
Stress Free Vacation
Positively Contributor and VSPDT Bobbie Bhambree of DogCentric Training and Behavior gives tips for having a stress-free vacation with pets.
My dogs love the hotel experience because they have been raised as travelers and have had many great travel experiences. We stay in hotels several times per year because I compete and train in the dog performance sport, agility. Each hotel is a new adventure for them. The first thing I do before I let the dogs out of the car is to carefully inspect the room for any 'minefields' (pills, food, socks, etc) that previous travelers may have left behind and housekeeping has missed.

Positive vs. Punitive
Top Tip
Don't make the mistake of thinking that keeping your dog in your backyard most of the day will replace his natural need for stimulation.
In fact, it almost always does more harm than good, since the backyard becomes just another "room" in which he can quickly get bored.
