Colleagues,
I am writing to share exciting news for our Chief Strategy Officer, Claudia Petrescu. She has accepted an offer to become Kansas State University’s first vice provost for graduate education, as well as to serve as dean of the university's graduate school. Her appointment will become effective on January 10, 2021.
Of course, Kansas State University’s gain will be our loss, and we will miss Claudia’s expertise in educational leadership, her critical thinking, her confident and collaborative spirit, and her warm and engaging personality.
In her five years with Oakland University, Claudia has demonstrated how each of us can take advantage of opportunities to learn, grow and succeed with the support of a dedicated academic community.
Claudia began her tenure as our Dean of Graduate Education and, in that role, she helped improve student recruiting, retention and career development. She also helped foster beneficial relationships between University units and international partners.
After completing an ACE Fellowship at Georgia State University in 2018 and 2019, Claudia began work on thoughtful and effective implementation of our Strategic Plan using key performance indicators to track our progress. Since the spring, she has played a critical role in OU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I want to thank Claudia for her substantial and valued contributions to the University. I hope you will join me in congratulating her on this wonderful career opportunity and wishing her only the best in her future endeavors.
