Donate to Winter WonderThe Winter Wonder program, coordinated through the Resource Center for Students with Children, provides crucial support to PSU students and their families. This year has been particularly difficult for students with children, many of whom are grappling with lack of childcare and adequate resources in addition to the struggle to make ends meet during the holiday season. Please consider donating to the Winter Wonder Fund! Funds are distributed to student parents based on family size, and serves to provide critical assistance to students in need. Please visit the RCSC Foundation page to donate by December 4th.

Meet Olivia Henry
Olivia Henry is a senior in her last year at Portland State, majoring in theatre arts. She has volunteered for the PSU Food Pantry and served two years as a resident assistant on campus. How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective
Edited by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor
"How We Get Free is a collection of conversations between foundational and contemporary Black Feminists. The book explores the impacts of the Combahee River Collective Statement on various political movements. The Combahee Statement is a key piece of Black Feminist thought that is often sourced as an origin for the concept of interlocking oppressions or intersectionality. I chose to start reading this book collectively with the rest of the QRC professional staff. We are interested in building a shared foundation of core queer and feminist concepts rooted in Black Feminist thinking."
-K Keith, Director of the Queer Resource Center

Employees who are enrolled in a medical program through Portland State have access to a variety of wellness programs. Some of these are even extended to spouses, partners, dependents and even extended family members. Even better, most of them are offered at either no cost or low cost to promote healthy living. For a list of programs you may be able to take advantage of, please visit the Human Resources page.

Over the break, my family and I participated in one of those sacred holiday traditions, a visit to the ER, following my husband's distracted use of a dull serrated knife in the kitchen. Upon arrival, we were congratulated on being the first digital laceration of the day, but assured we would not be the last. Somewhat strangely, the visit has become one of my favorite parts of our long weekend. In spite of the fact that it was a holiday and the on-call doctors, nurses and medical professionals would likely have preferred to be home with family, everyone who worked with us was kind, patient and attentive. It reminded me of my work with all of you, who have shown this same professionalism and kindness to our students and to one another, steadfastly continuing to provide critical support and opportunities for connectedness and engagement during these challenging days. I am deeply grateful and humbled to witness your daily acts of dedication, thoughtfulness and care. Thank you for all you do!
-Michele
