Welcome to the next edition of the Warrior Family Association e-newsletter. Where did September go? I feel like we were just moving students into the dorms, and we are already starting October! The weather has been unseasonably warm these last few weeks, and we’ve taken full advantage with many outdoor activities. Our fall sports are in full swing, and many fans are not used to the hot weather so late in September watching soccer games.
Indiana Tech’s Homecoming Weekend is coming up Oct. 4 and 5. We have activities and sporting events planned all weekend long, including the Zollner Expansion Ribbon Cutting Ceremony scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4. On Saturday, join us on Scully Square for an afternoon of fun activities. Free lunch will be in the cafeteria, and we will have dessert food trucks outside. There will be inflatables, fun games and entertainment for all. The Rec Center will be open, and you can explore the campus and win prizes in a Warrior scavenger hunt. The events will be fun for alumni with young families, students, faculty, staff and friends.
For a complete and updated schedule of the Homecoming events, please visit indianatech.edu/homecoming-2024. I hope you are able to visit campus and spend some time with us. If you see me, please come over and introduce yourself! I look forward to catching up with you.

Help Indiana Tech Crush Hunger!
Between Oct. 28 and Nov. 8, eight area colleges and universities will participate in a friendly competition to raise food and funds for hunger relief in partnership with Community Harvest Food Bank. Participants include reigning champion Trine University, as well as Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Purdue University Fort Wayne and University of Saint Francis. With a goal to raise 125,000 total pounds before the competition ends, canned goods and funding can be donated to support each school’s chances of bringing home the traveling trophy for 2024.
Last year, Indiana Tech finished fourth behind Trine, PFW and Saint Francis with a total of 13,661 pounds of food!
Use the secure link unique to Indiana Tech to donate online. Every $1 donated counts as four (4) pounds of food! You can also drop off canned/non-perishable food in the donation barrels around campus.

Christina Clarke
Assistant Dean of Online Learning, Professor of Practice of English
- I was one of the first women's cross country runners in Indiana. I started running cross country in middle school in 1981 and ran against the boys. In 1983, I ran for Concordia Lutheran High School's cross country team as a freshman, and we brought home the school's first state championship that year.
- As a kid, I was active in 4-H and raised rabbits, goats and chickens. I also had a couple of horses, a steer and a couple of hogs.
- I love Great Danes and have two: Angus and Mercury.
- I am the mother of six kids: three sons, and three daughters.

Dr. Majed Almotairi

- I have a passion for cooking traditional dishes, and I love to experiment with flavors and ingredients. Whether I'm perfecting a family recipe or trying out a new technique, my kitchen is often filled with aromas that tell the story of my culinary adventures.
- Traveling is one of my greatest joys. I've had the opportunity to visit over 50 countries, allowing me to learn more about new cultures and enjoy the local cuisine each place offers.
- I used to be a professional soccer player! While I now prefer to score goals in the classroom, I still enjoy watching games and cheering for my favorite teams.

Student Resource Showcase
Over the next few editions of the Warrior Family Association e-newsletter, we are going to introduce some of the outstanding resources Indiana Tech offers students to help them be successful at our university. If your student will benefit from any of these resources, please encourage them to reach out on campus for more information.
The Career Center
For this edition, we'd like you to meet Indiana Tech’s Career Center. Located on the second floor of Andorfer Commons, the Career Center was created to help students with their career development via discovery tools, resume building, cover letter writing, job search strategy, interview preparation, networking, and processing OPT and CPT (for international students) and more.
Our four career coaches specialize in different areas and have 81-plus years of cumulative work experience between us. We come from different backgrounds, as well; we have a Tech alum, a veteran, a K-12 educator and an immigration specialist. We are eager to help your student develop professional skills that will give them confidence and set them up for success as they move toward their career.
Talk with your student about the benefits of this free university resource. Please have them make an appointment with a career coach on Handshake or contact the Career Center at careercenter@indianatech.edu.

Final thoughts from a fellow mom
Since I sent the last e-newsletter in late August, Karl and I had the opportunity to travel to meet a few alumni and donors. These visits continue to remind us how much love and support our alumni and friends have for Indiana Tech. We continue to be so humbled by their generosity and their willingness to help our current students.
We also took a trip to New Jersey to visit family in early September. It was my mother’s 96th birthday and we had a small celebration for her. I was able to visit with our son, Thomas, which was wonderful. Unfortunately, Nicholas was unable to make the trip, but we caught up with him recently in Pittsburgh. For those of you who are far away from your students, I understand what you are feeling. It is hard for us to be away from family, especially our children. I believe strongly that my role as First Mom at Indiana Tech is to help support our students and provide you with comfort knowing that I am here to help. I will continue to do as much as possible to interact with your students, to create a sense of family, and to help Karl lead a university that provides a safe environment for students to learn and thrive.
