Friday Night Live in the Berkshires

Friday night, blues artist Joanne Shaw Taylor comes to the Mahaiwe. LA-based violinist Chris Murphy will be at The Lion’s Den. The Berkshire Ska Orchestra will be at Egremont Barn. Club d’Elf, a “synthesis of Moroccan traditional music and electronic, dubbed-out funk,” will perform at Race Brook Lodge. Berkshire International Film Festival's Cinematic Adolescence: Coming of Age Films by Auteurs series concludes this weekend with Taiki Waititi's Academy Award®-winning film Jojo Rabbit (2019), starring Waititi, Roman Griffin Davis, Scarlett Johannson, and Thomasin McKenzie. Berkshire Botanical Garden’s 2024 Art/Garden series continues with Re-Rooted, an exhibition featuring the drawings of Brooklyn-based artist Ellen Driscoll, who takes her inspiration from the resilience and regenerative power of plants. The opening reception is Saturday, April 20, 5–7 p.m. Driscoll’s work is in major collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of Art. More info

Earth Walk

The Clark Art Institute offers free activities on Friday as part of its April School Vacation Week programming. At 10 a.m., the Clark hosts Earth Walk with Dogs, offering three walks through its trails, ranging in difficulty. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Clark presents a pop-up display of dogs and nature-themed works on paper in the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper, located in the Manton Research Center. More info

Join this Earth Day exploration (and celebration!) of a vernal pool with BNRC at The Boulders in Pittsfield.
