The Eudora Times hosted a photo gallery reception, “Annalynn on Assignment,” last week at the future library building in Eudora. The community event featured 60 of KU senior Annalynn Phanthadeth's favorite photos she has taken in her 2 1/2 years working for the Times. Attendees viewed the images, sent Eudora-themed postcards, learned about the new library building, voted on their favorite image and guessed how many photos Annalynn has taken. The People’s Choice image was from Oct. 14, 2025, featuring the Cardinals volleyball team celebrating its senior night win against Paola and securing the Frontier League title for the first time since 2007. The total number of photos Annalynn has taken for The Eudora Times is 223,487.

Undergraduate Research Fellow Morgan Salisbury, a sophomore, recently co-presented at a conference in New York on a federal lawsuit involving student journalists’ rights and on the future of AI and its effects on journalism and society.
Former NFL quarterback and CBS NFL analyst Trent Green (below) recently discussed his career and broadcasting experiences with JMC 330 – Sports Media in the 21st Century. Instructor Jeff Chadiha moderated the Q&A session.
Doctoral student Samuel A. Muzhingi has published a study titled “When AI Enters the Syllabus: Journalism’s Crossroads of Threat and Opportunity” in the Journalism & Mass Communication Educator. The study was co-authored with Hong Tien Vu, Alyssa Appelman, and Tamar Wilner. The study examines how journalism instructors frame AI in their course syllabi and finds that approaches vary widely from treating AI as a threat to allowing limited use or encouraging discussion, suggesting a need for a clearer and more consistent guidance to better prepare students for its role in journalism. Assistant Professor Sarah Cavanah and a team of other university journalism scholars recently had “Balancing the Budget: Educator Perceptions of the Business Side of High School Journalism” published in Journalism and Mass Communication Educator. The team interviewed high school journalism educators from around the country about how entrepreneurial and business concepts intercept with their classrooms and teaching. They found high school journalism has really been very active in entrepreneurial concepts, as well as a lot of interaction with business and management concepts in ways that match best practices for experiential learning in business education. However, advisers tend to shield students from these experiences or treat finding ways to financially support their efforts as activities they must do to survive. They argued that high school journalism is already providing valuable training in sales, budgeting, fundraising and entrepreneurship that can be heightened through an intentional approach and included as outcomes students derive from participating in high school media.
