With that in mind, take advantage of our many campus resources to help you manage stress, stay healthy, and remain energized. If you take care of yourself now, you will be better equipped to handle seasonal stress, whether it’s coming from inside or outside the classroom.

Three minutes to convey the gist of your research. Are you up to the challenge? Stepping back from the technical details to communicate the big-picture issues of your research is essential, whether you are competing for funding, interviewing for a job, or sharing your work with a relative. To practice this skill, participate in the third annual UW-Madison 3-Minute Thesis Competition, hosted by GWIS-Beta and co-sponsored by WARF and the Graduate School. The event is open to the public, with a reception to follow the competition. Competitors from STEM fields will have the opportunity to share their research in 3 minutes and one PDF slide. A panel of judges will evaluate participants on their presentation's comprehension, creativity, and engagement. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three speakers. Competitors must register here before Friday, December 2; non-participant attendees can register at any time, here.

| Catalysts for Science Policy (CaSP) is hosting an interactive, skills-based workshop to teach aspiring scientists the ins and outs of program evaluation. Program evaluation is a policy toolkit used to measure the effectiveness of a project or program at meeting its goals. It's widely used to make government more empirical, as well as to monitor and support research grants -- and it's also a useful skillset for managing a lab or other large project.

This new $50,000 fund will support student-initiated projects to reduce the environmental footprint of residence halls and other buildings on campus. Global Health Corps fellows work with high-impact health organizations in yearlong paid positions. They fill critical gaps in their placement organizations as many have non-traditional health backgrounds. Throughout the year, fellows engage in intensive leadership development and community building, striving to embody the leadership practices of Global Health Corps as they work to address health inequities across the global health field.
Students completing a master's, doctoral, or professional degree in natural resource management or environmental-related studies are invited to apply to the Coastal Management Fellowship.
