The College of Nursing and Health Innovation has opened its doors to the future of healthcare education at UTA. The University’s new Smart Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, bringing new opportunities for research and education.
The facility allows CONHI to expand its educational features such as simulations. Nursing students will now work in small simulation groups for a more immersive and interactive learning experience. Read more.

For nursing degree, UTA student commutes six hours and 300 miles
|
For Yazmin Silva, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from The University of Texas at Arlington is so important that she has been willing to make a six-hour, same-day roundtrip commute along the Texas border to complete her required clinical hours.
She does so while balancing single parenthood and a full-time job teaching high school Spanish. But Silva said the commitment to her future is worth the effort. Read more.

The future of athletic training is at UTA

Athletic trainers practice and learn life-saving techniques to be prepared for any type of medical situation. The recent in-game cardiac arrest of Buffalo Bills football player Damar Hamlin is a reminder why the University of Texas at Arlington's Athletic Training Program prepares students for these exact moments in sports.
Damar Hamlin received immediate, on-the-field care by athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals trained to provide injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergency care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Liao Yue, assistant professor of kinesiology, spoke to ScienceLine about how people with Type 1 diabetes use continuous glucose monitors to monitor their blood sugar. Yue said that personal glucose data empowers people to have more control of their bodies.

A UTA nursing student helped bring her Ukrainian cousins to the U.S. after Russia invaded, the Houston Chronicle reports. Olexandra Shevchenko and her mother traveled to Poland to rescue her cousins from the conflict.
