Student Achievements, Spring 2023
It's that time of year! We were recently notified of several students who received national honors related to international opportunities and research. We're happy to share their good news and to offer our congratulations!
Four Miamians Offered Fulbright Awards, One Other Named An Alternate
Four of Miami University’s Fulbright semifinalists have been offered 2023-2024 grants and one has been named an alternate. Recipients of Fulbright awards are selected in an open, merit-based competition that considers leadership potential, academic and/or professional achievement, and record of service.
Perkins Selected for Fulbright UK Summer Institute
Sophomore Meredith Perkins was selected for a three-week Fulbright UK Summer Institute. Hosted by Aberystwyth University, Wales, the institute will focus on the theme ‘Identity and Nationhood through the lens of Wales.’ Perkins is only the second Miami student to be selected for this program.
Five Miami students named Gilman Scholars
Five Miami University students have been awarded a combined total of $15,000 from the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to help fund their study abroad experiences this summer and during the coming academic year.

GRC Grads Ready for the Next Chapter
With faculty, staff, and students looking on, 23 graduating seniors were recognized for their achievements as they received the Global Readiness Certificate (GRC)—only the third group of students to earn this honor. It was a time to celebrate, but also a time to reflect on the extraordinary journey that made it possible.
Look for Us at Summer Orientation
If you or a family member will be attending summer orientation at the Regionals or Oxford campuses, be sure to stop by and say hi to our friendly Global Initiatives staff during the resource fair! In addition to fun giveaways, we'll have information on study abroad programs, scholarships, upcoming events, and international education opportunities that will enrich your time at Miami. We're looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2027 to Miami!
