Transit Transit Transit Transit

The bold transit plan before us is the catalyst for real economic development in our District.   We know that we need service connecting Dickerson Pike and Gallatin Pike.  We know we want the vision for light rail to extend as far northeast as possible.  It is time to use our voice to help make these things happen.
Look for this newsletter and on this website for information concerning a Madison wide meeting on Transit during one of the two weeks after Thanksgiving.

"Development for us, not to us" continues to be the mantra as weekly meetings with developers take place.

Rock ‘n Dough Pizza Co. is expected to occupy 5,000 square feet of space at the $21 million Skyline Center mixed-use development, which will also include a 126-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel.

"I see this as a unique chance to help shape Nashville’s most prominent point of entry to the north," said Jarratt Bell, managing partner in Skyline Hospitality LLC, referring to the project location near Interstate 65 and Briley Parkway. "I expect further development to complement the Skyline community over the next few years."
The 5,000 square foot restaurant at Skyline Center will be the fourth for Rock ‘n Dough Pizza Co., which began as a food truck and now has full-service locations in Memphis, Jackson and Germantown in West Tennessee. It will serve stone oven pizza along with wings, salads, burgers, wraps and grinders. In addition to craft beers that will be brewed on location, Rock ‘n Dough will offer a full cocktail menu and its house-made root beer.

SLOW DOWN

Several traffic calming-related updates regarding neighborhoods/roadways in the 8th District from
Liesel Goethert Traffic Calming Coordinator
Metro Neighborhood Traffic Management Program
  • The Traffic Calming team received a request for Malquin Drive in July.  We collected vehicle speed and volume data on both Malquin Drive and Grinstead Pl/Joyce Ln. Residents living on Grinstead Pl/Joyce Ln approached our data collector several times while he was laying/checking the collection tubes in support of traffic calming given cut-through to the Home Depot. Speed and volume data are as follows:
    • MALQUIN – Vehicles per day = 333; 85th percentile speed (speed at which 85% of the traffic is traveling at or below) = 33 mph
    • GRINSTEAD/JOYCE – Vehicles per day = 1,176; 85th percentile speed = 35 mph
Based on these numbers, the team has added both roadways to the Police’s speed enforcement list and have also dispatched the portable speed trailer. We are flagging Grinstead Pl/Joyce Ln to be reanalyzed for potential physical measures once more funding becomes available given the higher volumes and speeds.

  • The team received a request for Ronnie Road and are waiting to receive the application back from the resident.
  • The team received a request for Burrus Street and Baxter Avenue. Currently waiting on a response from the resident.
