Book Group: Grading for Growth |
|
| |
One frequent suggestion for getting students to focus on process over product and engage in assignments and coursework as you intend (rather than misusing generative AI) is to change how you grade. But how do you actually do so? Join your fellow educators to explore the practical guidance on rethinking grading offered in David Clark and Robert Talbert’s book, Grading for Growth: A Guide to Alternative Grading Practices that Promote Authentic Learning and Student Engagement in Higher Education.
Dates, Time, & Location: Tuesdays, July 14, 21, 28, and August 4, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. on Zoom.
Participants will receive a copy of the book if they commit to attending at least 3 of the meetings.

You are not expected to be an expert in the use of GenAI or embrace AI without reservation.

Campus Partner Event: Interactive Talk on “Learning to Transgress” Hosted by University Writing Program |
Join the UWP and Dr. M. Shadee Malaklou (they/she) in an interactive talk to address the seeming incongruence of bell hooks’ love ethic and her mandate that we “teach to transgress.” Dr. Malaklou will address the im/possibilities of institutional and curricular transgressions to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across our respective campuses.
Join via Zoom on Friday, May 8th, from 1:00–2:30 p.m.
