TODAY, join LCLC at the Flames Connect Fair, 11AM to 1PM in the SCE concourse, next to the Bookstore. This event, sponsored by the UIC Undergraduate Student Government, is designed to advertise the ways programs support students: Peer Tutoring, Cultural events, Study Abroad, all our programs! Encourage your students to go, and consider volunteering to publicize our programs: sign up.
UIC is home to hundreds of languages and thousands of individual linguistic experiences: come share your own and hear from others! Join us next Wednesday, 25 February from 3-4PM for our annual Mother Language Day Celebration: share your favorite word(s), tell your language story, add yourself to the UIC Language Map, have snacks and coffee/tea, and chat and learn about the many, many languages we speak and study at UIC.
Thank you to all who have hosted and attended the many special events in GH 308 this month! Last week we had Valentine’s Day events for French, Spanish, and the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) UIC chapter; yesterday we had a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration and Un Dia de Barro y Novela hosted by UIC Latinos Unidos; and still to come this week we have French Mardi Gras (Tuesday, 17 Feb 3-4) and Korean Lunar New Year (Thursday, 19 Feb 5-7). And weekly events are going strong, so stop on by, bring friends, celebrate and enjoy!
