Dear Student,
I am pleased to welcome Brianda Hernandez as the next Center Director of the Latinx Center for the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering.
Brianda holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University School of Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies and Planning from California State University, Northridge.
Prior to joining Tufts, Brianda was the Assistant Director of the Crimson Summer Academy at Harvard University. Additionally, Brianda worked at Tufts University’s Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life where she worked with the Tisch Scholars Program.
Brianda is excited to come back to Tufts where she will lead the Latinx Center and work alongside me and the other Directors in DSDI to support the needs of all students with a particular focus on Latinx student communities.
Brianda’s values, rooted in courage and love for people and planet – originating from her own lived experience as a Mexican immigrant, first-generation, low-income student – guide her passion and commitment for creating transformative experiences for students that illuminate the strength of community and promote their growth and identity development.
