Anne Elliot Provides Customer Service That's Fit to Print
A left behind wallet might have disrupted a passenger’s trip, but Port of Portland Airport Operations Specialist Anne Elliott (she/her) stepped in to help. The thankful passenger sent this note of appreciation:
“While waiting to pick up a rental car for a visit to Portland, I discovered I didn’t have my driver’s license…most likely I left it behind at TSA in Newark. Without my license, I could not pick up my car and wouldn’t be able to proceed with my travels as planned, including a visit to see an old friend in Eugene.
I filed a request with New York DMV to replace my lost license and they issued me a temporary license electronically. However, the car rental company required a printed document. I went over to the terminal for help and found Anne.
After some unsuccessful attempts in the public-facing areas to find a working printer, she went over to another office and printed the documents for me. Without her help and warm support, I would not have been able to complete my trip as planned. I am forever grateful for her – and the airport staff in general – who made my first visit to Portland feel welcoming.”
Anne was a winner at the PDX People Customer Service Awards, where we recognize airport employees who truly stand out as extraordinary. Missed the last virtual awards ceremony? View the event recording or read about past winners.

What's New with PDX Next: Concourse E Concessions News, Gate C3 Restroom Reopens and AED Location Update
Concourse E Concessions: This week, look for the Blue Star Donuts cart to open on Concourse E. The cart might look familiar: it was re-purposed from the old food cart pod in the former Clocktower Plaza. Also on E, Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen is also anticipated to open in the next week – perfect timing for pho as the weather turns chilly!
Concourse C Restrooms: Over by Gate C3, the women's restroom is now open. One interesting change? The restrooms feature two different styles of sink fixtures with built-in hand dryers and soap dispensers. Why two? We're testing out which option will be best to use when we build out restrooms in the new main terminal.
AED Update: There's a new AED now stationed at the B/C checkpoint's TSA supervisor podium, replacing the one currently behind a construction wall. Want to know where other AEDs are located? Check out this map.

Rental Car Center Grand Opening Celebrates Partners, Customers and Convenience
There were bubbles for "cheers"-ing, cupcakes adorned with tiny tires for snacking and, most important, so many vehicles located right onsite for renting! Such was the grand opening celebration for our latest PDX Next improvement: the bright and beautiful new rental car center.
During their remarks, speakers drove home the point that travelers won't need a shuttle to get to the conveniently-located building and that minority, women and veteran owned small businesses earned more than $30 million in design and construction contracts as part of this effort. There was also a "non-ribbon cutting" with a seatbelt clicked together by project representatives.
Thanks to the incredible team of partners who helped deliver this convenient, comfortable and uniquely PDX experience for both travelers and employees.

PDX in Pictures
Thursday, Nov. 11 was Veterans Day – a day where we thank and honor all veterans for their service. As part of our recognition, we're highlighting the USO at PDX, located on the south end of the baggage claim level. USO centers provide a warm and comforting place where service members can connect to loved ones via internet or phone, play a video game, catch a movie, have a snack or just put their feet up and relax. The USO Northwest supports more than 1,400 service members and their families each month through their center and outreach programs.
