Following successful launches in Canada, Switzerland, the U.K., and India, the Dean has brought his latest publication in partnership with McKinsey & Company, Re-Imagining Capitalism, to China.  On May 28th in Beijing, the Dean hosted a joint event with the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University and McKinsey & Company. Alumni and business leaders participated in an afternoon featuring three panel presentations.

On May 26th, Jack Yuan (IMBA '98) Head of the Schulich Shenzhen Alumni Chapter, hosted Fintech and Entrepreneurialism in Modern China dialogue at an afternoon of learning and networking. Schulich Alumni in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and across China joined together for this landmark event featuring discussions on:

An engaging presentation on 'Forward to the Past: Why Managers Need History' with Matthias Kipping, Professor and Richard E. Waugh Chair in Business History at Schulich and a brief update about the School delivered by Bill Graham (MBA '86), President, Schulich Global Alumni Network wrapped up this wonderful day of learning.  
Following the formal portion of the event, Jack hosted an alumni reception at his modern offices at TimeFlys Innovation Labs.  Thank you Jack and your fellow committee members, Lian Duan (MBA '06), Dolly Shao (IMBA '11) and our amazing photographer, Ashley Cheng (MBA '09) for an incredible day.

On May 25th, The Schulich Hong Kong Honourable Secretary, Helen Wong (IMBA '92) and her husband, Thomas along with their son, Wilbert, hosted the Schulich delegation for dinner at the beautiful private China Club.  All enjoyed the authentic Hong Kong delicacies chosen by Helen.  Thank you to Helen and her husband, Thomas for their warm and generous hospitality.
On May 24th the Schulich group was welcomed by Brian Lau (MBA '91) at his offices at ShawKwei & Partners.  It was a great opportunity for Brian to reconnect with School and learn the latest updates.

Class of 2018 Leave Their Legacy As Changemakers At Schulich

“Reduction of barriers to education, the pursuit of equality, and a responsibility to be change leaders” sum up the impetus behind the 2018 Master’s Graduation Class Gift.  Officially launched by the Schulich Graduate Business Council (GBC), the 2018 Graduating Class Gift is raising funds to provide essential equipment for a nursing mothers’ lactation space inside the new Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building.  To encourage their fellow graduates to join the class gift, the GBC is offering to match every gift received, between now and graduation (June 22, 2018), up to $3,000.  Every gift counts!

Generous Response to the Filomena Petrilli Memorial Bench Campaign

Donations in support of the Filomena Petrilli Memorial Bench Campaign have been pouring in – a testament to the impact that Filomena left at Schulich and York. A dedication ceremony will take place later this month. All donors to the memorial bench campaign will be invited to the attend the dedication ceremony, alongside Filomena's family.

Arts, Media & Entertainment Alumni Dinner

The Arts, Media & Entertainment Management (ARTM) program hosted an Alumni Dinner at the Nadal Campus on May 7th.  Program Director Joyce Zemans welcomed 50 alumni, staff and faculty to the annual event to share updates on our alumni, the program, and the School.  All enjoyed the opportunity to network and reconnect with their fellow ARTM alumni and receiving a copy of the latest Arts, Media & Entertainment Newsletter.

Women in Business

On May 9th, alumni gathered at the Bay Adelaide Centre for Women in Business 2018 sponsored by KPMG. The evening began with a keynote by Hana Zalzal (MBA '92), Founder, CARGO Cosmetics. An informative alumni panel presentation followed.  Schulich alumnae shared their wisdom, successes and challenges while building their amazing careers. Speakers included Shereen Ladha (MBA ’15), Senior Strategist, McCann Canada and Owner/Director of YouTube channel ‘dancewithSL’, Emilie Le Tual (IMBA ’07), Change Management Lead, Global Finance Transformation, Scotiabank, Ivana Lochhead (MBA ’17), Vice-President of Growth, Global Skills Hub and Partner, Feminuity, and Anne-Marie Maduri (MBA ’96), President, Maduri & Associates.

On May 11th, the Schulich Finance Alumni Association hosted their bi-monthly networking social. The evening consisted of alumni catching up, networking, and welcoming the 2018 Graduating Class to the Schulich Finance Alumni community.

Undergraduate Dean's Reception

The school welcomed the Prospective Undergraduate Class of 2022 on campus at the annual Dean's Reception on May 15th. Beginning with the Dean's welcome address and an alumni panel, students and their guests also had the opportunity to receive a building tour and to mix and mingle with students, alumni, staff, and faculty.

 Master of Management Alumni Reunion & Networking Social

On May 17th, Schulich hosted the Master of Management Alumni 1-Year Reunion and Open House where prospective and current MMgt students were joined by MMgt alumni for a mini-lecture, an alumni Q&A panel, and a cocktail networking session. The Master of Management is designed to give non-business grads the tools and skills they need to launch a successful career.

In a world of life-long education, the demand for trainers who understand the needs of adult learners has grown rapidly. SEEC’s Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development is the premier course for those who want to develop their skills in adult education – and the latest participants in this successful program were eager to comment on their experience.

“The course was so well designed – certainly the most effective of the modules I’ve taken to date and my favorite so far,” said one participant. “We had an opportunity to apply every concept we learned, and the resources provided were easy to follow.
