As we head into winter break, it’s time to reflect on our accomplishments for 2025 and reset our intentions for 2026. We are officially in the midst of performance evaluation season. Encourage your team to complete self-assessments and share their accomplishments in advance of annual evaluations.
As a leader, it's also a good time to revisit your own accomplishments. Have you been working to improve the well-being and engagement on your team? We have details below to help you navigate this season with ease.
Click here to register for the upcoming People Leader Forum, Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. December's forum will help you prepare for annual performance evaluations. Remember, you can always view previous forum recordings or past months' PLN newsletters on the People Leader website.

Self-Assessments, Goals, Evaluations, Oh My!
|
Performance Management @Tech supports the Institute’s goal of supporting staff development and performance. It also supports our ability to leverage performance during the reward phase of the performance management process.
|
- 2025 Self-Assessments (Dec. 1, 2025 – Jan. 31, 2026)
Through the end of January, staff have an opportunity to pat themselves on the back for work well done this year. The self-assessment allows staff to review their own performance and outline their accomplishments, which helps supervisors facilitate the annual evaluation. - 2025 Annual Evaluations (Feb. 1, 2026 – March 31, 2026)
Although, feedback and coaching should be an ongoing conversation throughout the year, the formal evaluations provide an opportunity to record progress and discuss the full year’s performance and how your team delivered on goals. Use this helpful resource for guidance. -
2026 Goal Setting (Dec. 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026)
Setting goals that support broader department and Institute goals and strategic priorities can make our work more meaningful. To help you set and assess your team’s SMART Goals.
|
Note: Academic faculty, research faculty, academic professionals, or post-doc fellows are annually reviewed by the appropriate designee. They are not required to use the forms or processes that are designated for classified employees. Student employees, retired but working (RBW), affiliates, and faculty, GTRI, GTAA and EI2 staff are not required to use the Performance @Tech module.

Whether you have data or not, the Gallup Q12 engagement framework still provides actionable insights for supervisors and the Institute’s learning and development team can help you learn more and implement best practices.
