Get Free Compost — May 15
Just in time for spring gardening, the Waterwise Community Center will resume distributing free compost on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 8:30am to 11:30am behind our facility off of Helena Avenue.
Compost is a blend of organic materials such as grass clippings, leaves, and vegetable and fruit scraps that have decomposed to form a soil amendment which enhances the soil's fertility and plant vigor. The practice of composting also keeps these items out of the landfill and allows them to be reused in a sustainable way. No wonder some gardeners call it "black gold." It's a win-win!
This is a self-serve event, and compost is available on a first come, first serve basis. Mulch will also be available in the parking lot seven days a week. Please take note of the different locations for picking up compost and mulch. Bring your own shovels, containers and gloves and get your spring garden ready to thrive!
