“Who among you is wise and understanding? Let you show your works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom.” - James 3.13
Life is full of surprises, and through wisdom, we recognize that so many things are outside of our control. Knowing that nothing is a surprise to God gives us the courage to take on those challenges, though, with courage and determination.
In the midst of such a rapidly changing world, we don’t want to be a source of surprises. Instead, Cathedral strives for consistency in our language, practices, and deeds. As we move into the second quarter of this school year, I can feel the rhythm of the days developing. Consistency and predictability are essential in our student’s lives. We call this the “ministry of presence”; as Cathedral educators, we are present in our student’s lives as they live and grow through these formative and transformative years.
Recently, we shared a short two-question survey with our current parents, students, and educators, a survey often referred to as “The Ultimate Question.” We asked respondents how likely they would recommend Cathedral to a friend or colleague. Nearly half of our households responded, and more than 80% gave us a score of 9-10 on a 10-point scale. We heard from many of you that the “Cathedral Experience” rates very highly, in terms of our warm and welcoming community, faith-based mission, and overall quality of our educators and programs. We are humbled and grateful for such positive feedback.
We work hard every day to progress as a learning community that consistently delivers this incredible experience. As you would expect, the opportunities for improvement that were identified in the survey results give us a good roadmap to develop solutions to ensure continuous improvement.
This month, we say goodbye to our beloved Chaplain, Father Emmanuel and say hello to our new Chaplain, Father Jomy. We delve into the second academic quarter of the year, looking for opportunities to support our classroom educators and students every day. We celebrate our Holy Cross Core Value of Diversity and Inclusivity by welcoming acclaimed author and Rwandan Genocide Survivor Immaculee Ilibagiza on November 9th to speak to all of our students. We remember those in our families who have passed on from their earthly life with a special display for remembrance. We begin the month with our All Saints Day Mass. And we will model and celebrate gratitude (the first step to holiness) with our Thanksgiving break.
God's wisdom and grace give us the strength for whatever difficulties come our way, and through the tenacity of our unity and faithfulness, we will sustain this powerful mission and vision together.
Thank you for your consistent support and encouragement as we move through the 2022-23 school year together. I feel truly blessed every day to be a part of this energetic, fantastic Irish school community.
Faithfully in Jesus,
Rob Bridges, PhD
President

Living Rosary
Students and educators gathered in the Welch Activity Center last month to pray the Living Rosary. Praying the Living Rosary was a beautiful way to celebrate the month of the Holy Rosary and honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the Patroness of Cathedral High School. Ipsa duce non Fatigaris - "With her leading, you shall not tire."
