Happy Holidays from

the Literacy Council

We want to wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season. Thank you so much for all your support and we look forward to another wonderful year!

Become a Youth Literacy tutor

in 2020

There's still space in our Youth Literacy tutor training for January 2020!
Our program provides free, 1-on-1 tutoring to students who live in low-income homes and read, write, and/or spell below grade level. We use a phonics-based program and multisensory strategies proven to work with students who have language-related learning difficulties.
We explore the effects of poverty and trauma in order to better understand and serve our students. Tutors and students work together twice a week throughout the school year.
Help children strengthen basic literacy skills, build self-confidence, and discover a new version of themselves as evolving learners. Experienced K-5 educators may be offered an abbreviated training schedule. Please call Rebecca at (828) 254-3442 ext. 202 for more information.

Now through December 31!

MountainXpress is hosting Give!Local and we are grateful to be included again this year as one of 45 area nonprofits. Find out more here, including some sweet perks from Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe for our Give!Local donors!
