November 2014

Dear Friends of United Hospice of Rockland,

County Executive Ed Day has eliminated all funding to United Hospice of Rockland in his 2015 proposed budget, resulting in the loss of $95,000 in funds that support the important services we provide in our community.  This is part of the $3.3 million in total funding cuts for County contract agencies/not-for-profits.
It is not the time to sit back quietly. We need your help. It now sits in the hands of the Rockland County Legislature to restore funding. They need to know that the essential services UHR provides are needed and valued by the community.
Please write to your elected officials and tell them you want them to reinstate this critical funding for UHR. Please see the attached sample letter that you can use (or feel free to use your own words) that provides the facts and data on why UHR critical funding needs to be reinstated.
Mail or fax your letters to the following individuals TODAY to 11 New Hempstead Rd., New City, NY 10956; fax to 845-638-5856; or send them via email to the addresses below:
The County Executive stated that he expects that the loss of funds can be made up through fundraising. We do not sit on our laurels in terms of fundraising. This year, through the generosity of our community we anticipate raising $825,000 in addition to the money we receive from the County, to help us meet our expenses. It is not realistic to expect that we can fundraise more if this money is cut.

Please let me know the things you do to speak out on our behalf.  Thank you.
