Trick or Treat ~ What's to Eat? 2016 Sign-Up
Once again this Halloween, The Well is asking groups to collect non-perishable items for the Well that will then be distributed to those who are hungry in our area.
Groups can sign up to “trick or feed” for particular area subdivisions by clicking here. The form also asks for your group name, approximate number in your group, date planned for participation, and way to get flyers, ID badges, and Pizza vouchers to you.
Questions & Answers:
Q: Does our group have to trick-or-treat on Halloween night?
A:   No. Please feel free to do this anytime the week of 10/23 to 11/1/16. We just ask that you let us know when you plan to trick or treat so that we can spread to the word to folks in that neighborhood that you are coming so that they will be prepared to give you food.
Q: What kinds of groups can do this?
A:   We encourage any groups of to do this – youth goups, life groups, sports teams, scout troops, school clubs, families, or just a group of friends who want to help others and have a good time.
Q: Can we dress up?
A: Sure. We just ask that you keep it fun, appropriate, and not too scary.
Q: How do we know that another group won’t canvas the same neighborhood?
A: Our sign-up form enables you to select particular subdivision(s) to canvas. Once one group selects a particular subdivision, it won’t be available for another group to select. With all of the subdivisions in the Spring Hill/Thompson’s Station/Northern Columbia area, there is plenty of room for everyone to participate!
Q: What if a subdivision isn’t listed?
A: Please email Alison Worden at the Well (Alison.thewell@gmail.com) and let her know.
Q: How do we let people in our selected subdivision know that we’re coming so that they’re prepared with food to donate?
A: We have a template with flyers to distribute prior to trick-or-treating that we can email to you or we'll be happy to print flyers for you. We will also post on the I Heart Spring Hill Facebook page to alert residents that you’re coming.
Q: Are there any benefits to doing this?
A: Besides knowing that you have helped provide food for those who are hungry in your community, you will have fun with your group of friends or family members. We encourage to go back to your church or someone's home after you trick-or-treat and have a pizza party. In fact, our friends at Jet's Pizza of Spring Hill are giving participating groups a great deal on their pizzas -- 30% off of their menu price. We'll give you a voucher to use for this.
Q: Are there certain kinds of food we should collect?
A. We would love anything non-perishable. Our high-need items are listed to the right. This list will be included in the flyers that we can supply to you for pre-distribution to your neighborhood(s).
Q. What should we do with the food after it’s collected?
A. Please bring it by the Well at 5226 Main Street, Unit C-5, as soon as possible after your event during the Well’s office hours, Monday – Thursday, 8:30 - 4, or Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8, or Saturdays 10-12. (We do our best to keep these hours, but sometimes aren't able to. Please email Alison or call 615-302-9355 to make sure that someone will be here.) If this isn’t convenient, let us know and we’ll arrange something different.
