Carrie Countryman Provides Picture Perfect Customer Service
Sometimes the value of a missing item can't be measured in monetary terms. That's the case with Big Bunny – a precious stuffed toy that took a detour on its journey through PDX. Carrie Countryman (she/her) stepped up to help reunite Big Bunny with its family:
“I wanted to tell you about an excellent customer service experience I had with a member of your team.
My family flew into PDX and when we finally arrived home in Salem, we realized that my five-year-old had left her very precious Big Bunny – along with her backpack – at the airport.
I quickly submitted a claim on the Lost and Found website (which was very efficient) and 24 hours later, I received an email letting me know that both the backpack and Big Bunny were found. Not only was the Lost and Found team highly attentive to processing my claim quickly, but they told me to let my daughter know that "Big Bunny is having a wonderful time 'traveling.'"
Things could have ended there, and I would have been very grateful for the quick response. However, yesterday I received an email from Carrie, which included pictures of Big Bunny's travels at PDX. It totally blew up my Facebook page when I shared her sweet photos!”

What's New with PDX Next: Changes in Baggage Claim and February Forum
Baggage Claim: North baggage claim will undergo noticeable changes during construction of the new main terminal, allowing for structural upgrades, the construction of new baggage service offices, restrooms and escalators. You may have noticed initial work last week as temporary walls went up near bag carousel 10 and some seating in International Arrivals was repositioned.
Eventually you’ll see relocations in the area, including airline baggage offices, Lost and Found and tenant offices, all on the north side. The north restrooms will also close at some point, likely this spring.
The first relocations will take place at the end of February when United, Delta and American airline baggage offices relocate to new spaces behind the north elevator. These moves will occur on Monday, Feb. 27 (United Airlines), Tuesday, Feb. 28 (Delta Airlines), and Wednesday, March 1 (American Airlines).
Stay tuned for more changes – we’ll keep you knowledgeable here, on digital signage in the employee bypasses and on the PDX People website.
February Forum: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. to get the inside scoop on construction at PDX. Jen Reynolds from the Port of Portland along with Pat Bifone and Bri Leiblie of Hoffman-Skanska share the latest construction updates and answer your questions about PDX Next in just 30 minutes.

PDX Next in 2023: Previewing This Year
at the Airport
If you asked everyone working at PDX to take stock of 2022, they'd say it was a year to remember. Just as we promised last January, we demolished the remains of Clocktower Plaza, erected giant steel Y-columns on the site of the new main terminal, and slid a nine-acre wood roof overtop, all while not interrupting a single flight. With the roof in place, we have a whole new set of resolutions for 2023 – from new restaurants and shops to the innovative curtain wall – to get the main terminal ready to open in mid-2024.
More Lived Experiences Celebrated in Port and PDX Art Collections
For too much of the Port of Portland and PDX's history, the permanent artwork and rotating exhibits on view didn’t reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the region we serve. But since then, we've taken steps to transform our art program, celebrating different lived experiences, showcasing the many forms fine art can take, and better reflecting the diversity of the Pacific Northwest. In this two-minute video, Port of Portland's Art Program Manager Wendy Given shares more about the efforts. As she notes, "When you can see yourself reflected in the art that surrounds you, it’s really impactful."
PDX Love Stories Highlight Airport Connections

Over the years, our airport has seen many love and friendship stories take flight – read a few of them over on our PDX Facebook page.

PDX in Pictures
Travelers and employees recently had a reason to stop and smile during their busy day, thanks to help from some furry friends. The PDX Dog Therapy program – courtesy of DoveLewis and their Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams (PACTT) – stopped by on Valentine's Day with pups decked out in festive headbands, making for particularly heartwarming photos.
