Call for Applications for the Fundamentals of Leadership Program - Deadline August 15, 2023

In a new or expanded leadership role? Have a new project or service you are starting?
This eight-month program is designed to help full-time SMHS faculty and staff with new or expanded leadership responsibilities. The program includes self-tests, readings, group discussion, action planning, and other activities to help enhance fundamental leadership competencies related to individuals, teams, change, and most importantly, oneself. You must have a work project to focus on during the program. This could be a new program or service you are starting in your department or across several departments.
Monthly in-person half-day sessions begin November 9, 2023 and end June 13, 2024. All sessions must be attended in person. In between sessions, participants will work on their projects and receive assistance from program faculty and a designated mentor.

Up to 12 faculty and staff members will be accepted. Support from your department/division chair or supervisor is required. Please click here for more details and to submit an application
Applications are due on or before August 15, 2023

Junior Faculty Career Development Workshop

The CFE plans to host the Junior Faculty Career Exploration & Development Workshop this Fall for all faculty. This half-day professional development event is designed for junior faculty to explore and discuss strategies to enhance their careers. The workshop consists of presentations, a panel discussion, and interactive discussions on understanding the academic medicine and health sciences environment and developing a professional portfolio. 
Stay tuned for when the application opens! More information and the timeline for this workshop are forthcoming.

Align your teaching with what really works to facilitate learning and get a healthy start populating your teaching portfolio for the 2023-2024 academic year. Register: Resilient Teaming in Medical Education Research: Lessons from the sociobiology analogy

This interactive presentation will introduce the sociobiology analogy as a complementary lens from which to think about resilient teaming in medical education research—using insights from investigations with action teams and engaging participants in discussions around the sociobiology principles of communication, decentralization, and self-repair as it pertains to medical education research teams. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) IDEAS Learning Webinars are free resources for registered members. AAMC membership is also free. The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-racism Series page: https://cloud.email.aamc.org/ideas outlines all recorded webinars and additional resources.
The IDEAS Learning Webinars are led by experts with the purpose to provide "comprehensive, reliable information." These educational series are helpful to health and medical faculty, staff, and students who want to be proactive in their efforts to foster inclusive environments and promote equity in medical schools.

Register: AAMC Webinar Series focused on Scholarly Publishing
Register for a monthly webinar series hosted by the editorial teams of the AAMC’s 2 peer-reviewed journals, Academic Medicine and MedEdPORTAL. Sessions will cover the importance of publishing your education scholarship and practical suggestions for how to do so successfully, and will include interactive exercises to practice what you have learned and time for Q&A with the editorial teams of Academic Medicine and/or MedEdPORTAL. These sessions are open to all so please consider sharing with your peers, students, and others interested in these topics.
