PDX People Spotlight on Lusiana Withington
PDX People are the heart of our airport, and it wouldn’t be the PDX we all know and love without people like Lusiana Withington (she/her), with Bags Inc. Lusiana, winner of a PDX People Customer Service Award, gives us her perspective on creating a welcoming space, "...because when you travel, sometimes you don't know anything. You want someone willing to help you." She knows how to make your journey feel like you're traveling with a friend  you're never lost if you're with Lusiana! Watch Lusiana's spotlight video.

What's New with PDX Next: D/E Bypass and Ticket Lobby
D/E Bypass: On Friday, July 28, from midnight to 4 a.m., the D/E bypass will close intermittently for concrete pours. There will be spotters in the bypass and access to security exit doors will be maintained. In urgent cases where an employee or passenger needs the bypass, work can be paused.
Ticket Lobby: As a reminder, there is noisy work in the ticket lobby as old parts of the ceiling are removed to reveal the new roof. You may have noticed a protective curtain where the D/E checkpoint overflow queue was located; that queue shifted slightly east while work continues in the area.
Looking for more PDX Next information? We're keeping you in the know on what's new on the PDX People website. Have questions or suggestions about construction? Email hello@pdxnext.com or call the construction hotline at 503.460.4339.

This week, Travel + Leisure released their 10 best domestic airports and, once again, PDX made the list. Landing at No. 5 in the nation is an especially notable accomplishment, given that we’re in the seventh year of construction for the PDX Next program with significant impacts to the operation and the customer experience. This honor speaks to the hard work of all the PDX People navigating construction impacts while maintaining extraordinary customer service. Thanks to everyone who makes this airport the place our community continues to love!

PDX Receives $16 Million to Help Reach President’s Goal of Net Zero-Emissions by 2050
Last week, PDX was awarded a $16 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to construct infrastructure supporting airlines’ transition to electric ground service equipment. Currently the equipment is diesel operated, so this is an important project to help reduce emissions that impact airport employees and the surrounding community. Funds are part of a supplemental grant program created to help airports meet the President's goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

PDX in Pictures
Last week, PDX hosted a group of 20 students from the Washington State School for the Blind. These students are part of the Yes 1 program, which offers students who need minimal assistance with their independent living and travel skills the opportunity to explore their interests and aptitudes, discover different careers possibilities and visit work sites. Thanks to United Airlines and the USO, who partnered with the Port of Portland to make this event a success!
