An Interview with Cassi Wright (Class of 2011)
by Karen Whelan
Cassi Wright began mastering her artistic talents starting in the 6th grade at Nashville Christian School. Since then she has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, finishing with her senior thesis, The Hallowed Woods. NCS Director of Alumni Relations Karen Whelan recently caught up with Cassi to talk about where her passion for art is now taking her.
LUMINOUS:  I looked at your thesis on your website, cassiwright.wordpress.com, and am fascinated with how you combine your art with your faith. Can you share how this came to be?

CASSI:  My faith was increased when I started having dreams at night from God. I knew these dreams were from Him because scriptures would be spoken to me in the dreams. The art I make comes from being inspired by what I learned from studying these scriptures. The dream that inspired my senior thesis was from a scripture I had never read before.

Game Changers - The Class of 2016
The Class of 2016 began their senior year devastated by the loss of a friend, brother and teammate. Before the first day of school even started, they began living out their theme verse John 13:34-35 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” As they lived out these words, they got busy achieving great things. They truly became “game changers.”
Remembering Jimmy Smithey, Class of 1993
The Class of 1993 is mourning the loss of a great man, Jimmy Smithey. Jimmy was an outstanding classmate and friend. He was a kind, smart, and loving soul. His smile would light up a room, and his sense of humor always had a way of making everyone laugh. During his time at NCS, he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was the football team's quarterback and led his team on the field every Friday night. Win or lose, Jimmy always pushed himself and his teammates to give 100%, regardless of the outcome. After graduation, Jimmy began his career in the healthcare industry by obtaining his license as a Surgical Technician where he had the ability to help people in their time of need. His compassion for human life would shine through each day as he went to work and dedicated his life to his chosen profession. The Class of 93' is saddened by this sudden and tragic loss of their friend, but he will never be forgotten and will remain in our hearts forever. May God bless Jimmy's family and classmates as they mourn the loss of a great man.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 1:30pm - 3:00pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home where a celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 3:00pm.
