Move-in Day is almost here, and we’re excited to welcome your student and family to WashU! The Division of Student Success offers more than 25 departments dedicated to preparing your student for lifelong success.
Below are important reminders as you prepare for Move-in Day, Orientation and Parent & Family Orientation. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the Incoming Families Guide.

Remaining checklist requirements |
There are some critical tasks that students must complete to be able to move-in. If the following tasks are not completed by the time your student arrives to campus, they will be delayed in checking in to their residence hall.
More details about each of these important tasks can be found on the Before You Arrive Checklist. The items below had a deadline of August 1. If your student has not completed one or more of these items, they should do so ASAP.

Parking
Free parking is available on campus August 14-16. Families are encouraged to select the East End Garage for long-term parking during your visit. Long-term parking is not available on the South 40 (where first-year residences are located) on Friday, August 14 or Saturday, August 15.
Campus tours
Walking tours of campus will be available on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15. Tours leave from the South 40 Clocktower hourly beginning at 1 p.m.; the last tour leaves at 4 p.m.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a water bottle and a hat.

|
Domestic first-year students will move-in to their residence hall on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15*. Students can view their move-in slot and room assignment in their Housing Portal.
Staff from Student Transitions & Engagement will be available to answer questions on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Student Transitions & Engagement is located in the lower level of Umrath House on the South 40 (across from the Bear’s Den entrance).

Students will check-in at Tisch Commons located on the main level of the Danforth University Center (DUC). The Danforth University Center is located at 6475 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63105.
- If they are arriving via taxi or ride-sharing service, have your student provide the above address to their driver.
- During check-in, short-term parking will be available in Zone 2 in Lot 35 (Simon Hall Lot).

Students will go inside the DUC to receive their room key, parking placard, Metro U-Pass, and a one-time moving ticket. Any guests will need to stay inside the vehicle.
- The parking placard must be placed on your vehicle's dashboard for the duration of move-in.

The one-time moving ticket is given to our professional moving team when it is your student's turn to move items into their room. Do not lose it!
- Those arriving via taxi or ride-sharing service will be assisted in transporting luggage to their residence hall.

From check-in, you and your student will be directed to the unloading location for your student's residence hall. Once their items are unloaded, the driver of the vehicle will be directed to long-term parking while you stay with your items.

* Move-In Day for international students attending WashU on a visa is Thurs., August 13; see more information below. Fall varsity athletes have different arrival dates; please check with your head coach for more information.

Your student has a busy schedule during Orientation. On the evening your student moves in, they have a required Residential Floor Meeting (note: your student only attends one on the evening they move in).
On Sunday morning, your student has a required Residential Community Meeting. We encourage you to say your goodbyes by 4 p.m., when required programming begins for the evening.
Beginning Monday morning, your student will be busy exploring academic life, community living and St. Louis. Remind your student to submit an Off-campus Event Waiver to participate in the In the Lou programming.

Parent & Family Orientation |
|
|
|
Convocation is a university tradition that will take place on Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. CDT. Families are encouraged to participate from the comfort of their homes, via live stream. The in-person event is for students only.
|
|
|
|
During move-in and Orientation, it's busy on campus! Plan ahead and learn more about dining location hours and tips to navigate meals by checking the Dining Services website for the most up-to-date information. Most campus orders can be made through the Grubhub app. If you do no not have the Grubhub app yet, download the Grubhub app now to stay on schedule and enjoy your meal!

|
Some families may choose to arrive in St. Louis before their student’s assigned Move-in Day. Families may use that time to go shopping for last minute supplies, explore St. Louis or enjoy a family meal at a local restaurant. Plan your visit first by visiting Explore St. Louis.

Save the Date for Parent & Family Weekend |
Parent & Family Weekend 2026 will be held October 30-November 1 and offers events and activities for students and their parents and families.

International First-year Student Move-in provides dedicated arrival support, including early residence hall check-in and airport shuttles, to help new international students smoothly transition to campus life.

| Move-in marks the start of life at WashU. Plan ahead for arrival times, unloading and residence hall check-in as your student settles into their new home.

Parent & Family Orientation is where families can connect with WashU staff, learn more about campus resources, and prepare for the transition alongside their student during this exciting first weekend on campus.
