LCLC LLAs and mentor teachers are supporting student success! Every week, we have…
|
- 29 LLAs,
- in 6 languages,
- visiting 34 class sections,
- taught by 22 mentor teachers,
- serving about 700 students!
|
Mentor teachers – thank you! You contribute to the professional development and passion for language and culture that we strive to cultivate in our upper-level students. LLAs appreciate the opportunity to get hands-on experience working with a wide range of UIC peers, BLP students appreciate having an extra resource and role model in their classroom, and we hope you appreciate having a helper and mentee as well!
Registration for Summer and Fall 2026: Advising for registration is happening now, and registration starts after Spring Break: help us spread the word about our wonderful LCSL programs and classes! Volunteer to join us in SCE to talk to students about language and culture courses, major and minor programs, study abroad, language events, becoming a tutor/LLA, and more.
Your fall class on social media: help us promote your own programs and courses on our Instagram page: send us a photo with a caption or a short (15-30 seconds) video showcasing what you enjoy about teaching your language, a fun fact about your language (proverbs, idioms, connections, tongue twisters…), something interesting about yourself (hobbies? pets?), or anything you want to share that undergrads will find interesting. We will publish it on Instagram and Facebook, getting your message out to students, staff, and administrators.

Language Stories: Benn Williams, UIC Graduate College Fellowships and Awards Coordinator |
"As a staffer at UIC, I work hard to send graduate students abroad for their research, for language acquisition or polishing, for possibly a lifechanging adventure. Learning new languages opens doors to new dimensions and de-reifies the human condition.
