Dorekeepers: QPR Suicide Prevention Certification
September is Suicide Prevention Month, focusing on Changing the Narrative on Suicide by promoting openness, empathy, and support.
The Student Care Network is providing Dorekeepers: QPR Suicide Prevention Certification trainings for students, faculty, and staff. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training helps the Vanderbilt Community recognize warning signs and assist those at risk of suicide. Faculty, staff, and student leaders can request QPR sessions via the Student Care Network Outreach Request Form.

Writing Studio Programs
- Writing Studio Writing Groups
The Writing Studio offers weekly writing groups for graduate students and postdocs during the Fall and Spring semesters on Tuesdays from 2 - 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Participants can attend one or both days and are encouraged to attend weekly. Each session begins with a 10-minute check-in to discuss writing goals and ends with a progress update. A Writing Studio facilitator is available for support. To participate, complete the registration form. More information can be found here.
- Fall Dissertation Writers’ Retreat
The Writing Studio hosts an annual Dissertation Writers’ Retreat for dissertating graduate students, providing a quiet atmosphere for focused writing. The Fall Retreat will take place October 9 - 10 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day. An application is required, with a deadline of Friday, October 19, or until capacity is reached. The retreat offers a supportive community, goal setting, and skill-building workshops, with lunch and snacks provided. Applications are also welcome from master's thesis students and postdoctoral fellows. For questions, please email Nauff Zakaria.

The Office of Transportation & Mobility invites Vanderbilt University faculty, staff, and students to a virtual meeting on Tuesday, October 7, from 11 - 11:45 a.m. to discuss WeGo Public Transit’s winter service changes, effective Sunday, January 4, 2026. Proposed changes include longer service hours on Sundays and increased frequency on routes 3 West End, 7 Hillsboro, and 52 Nolensville Pike. Visit the website for more information.

BRET Career Development ASPIRE Program Events
The BRET Office of Career Development ASPIRE Program provides career and professional development enrichment activities for Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Join them for the following event:
Join ASPIRE every Tuesday, from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. in Light Hall 707 for a CV/Resume Drop-in Clinic for VU and VUMC biomedical sciences PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. They will review CVs, NIH biosketches, resumes, LinkedIn profiles, or other professional documents you use in a job search.
The ASPIRE UP series is a monthly workshop for biomedical Ph.D. students and postdocs to enhance their career and professional skills.

Digital Lab Python Workshops
The Library's Digital Lab is offering a series of five weekly lessons designed to introduce you to the basics of the Python programming language. No prior coding experience is required, but please remember to bring your laptop. Classes will take place every Thursday afternoon from 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. in Divinity Library, Room 211. English Language Center Individual Language Coaching: Focus on Speaking, Pronunciation, or Writing
The English Language Center (ELC) coaching sessions are individual, 50-minute, cost-free, virtual meetings designed to address the speaking and writing needs of individuals who use English as an Additional Language and who are enrolled in Vanderbilt academic programs.
