More Than Childcare
FBC Kids is more than childcare. One of the goals is to take great care of kids, but that sells short the heart and mission of the FBC Kids ministry. We understand how important it is to provide the church family with a space to bring kids so parents are free to engage in worship, fellowship and growth. However, in addition we find it just as vital to provide those things for all of our kids from the littlest baby to the coolest 5th grader. This is why FBC Kids does what it does. Our goal is to share the truths of the Gospel to kids, to pray they catch a glimpse of how great our God is and that they choose to have personal relationship with him through Christ.
How we share this Good News may look a little different. Our goal is to integrate the Gospel into everything we do. We don’t just do story time and then move on to fun and games. It means while we play the crazy games, eat sugary snacks or create interesting crafts there is a Gospel message and heart behind them.
Recently, I have watched some of the video series “The Chosen”. While, it is fiction or a fictional look at Jesus and the disciples, I have enjoyed being challenged to look at the events of the Gospel in different ways. One of the episodes shows a perspective of how Jesus might have interacted, taught and loved on kids. This struck a chord in my heart to think about how Jesus interacted with the little ones. This challenged and encouraged me to be intentional in my teaching and loving of the kids God has brought to us in FBC Kids. How can we show Jesus’ kind of love and value to the kids that cross our paths? We do this by being honest with kids about how this life isn’t all there is. We share with them that we know the end of God’s Big Story and that the end is perfect, one filled with hope and the pure love of the Father.
Now that you know what we are about, I ask for you to ponder how you can help. The options of helping share the Gospel with our kids are endless. One thing everyone can do is also one of the the upmost importance: that is to pray. Pray that these kids will come and grow in the knowledge and understanding of God’s Big Story. Pray that the ministries that are happening will have enough volunteers and resources so we can share the Good News. Another way to help is to volunteer with one of the many aspects of our ministries. Some of the roles we are in need of currently: Nursery volunteers, Registration volunteers, Awana helpers, KidZone teachers & leaders , 9:30 Kids Class teachers & leaders. We are also looking for help with behind the scenes projects. Some of these projects are: organizing, deep cleaning, painting, simple construction, and helping set up for the various ministries. If you are interested in serving in any of these ways, or have an idea for another, please let me know (email@example.com). We would love to hear that you are joining us in prayer for FBC Kids during this time of uncertainty in our world.
