Haiti Closes Schools; THP Continues to Support Haitian Employees
March 21, 2020
Yesterday, Haiti’s government closed all schools in the country as part of a state of emergency declaration in response to the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
While Louverture Cleary School students remain at home, The Haitian Project is committed to supporting the financial security of the school’s Haitian teachers and staff in the country. This means continuing to pay salaries so that they have the resources to manage the situation and support their families and communities as much as possible. Louverture Cleary School continues to provide clean water to the school neighborhood and is evaluating other ways to be of direct assistance.
The Haitian Project is focused on being there for our students whenever schools re-open.
These are challenging times for all of us, and we at The Haitian Project understand that giving is simply not possible right now for many people.
But this is precisely why we still have to ask and pray that those who can give, will. Our teachers and staff in Haiti rely on our support, and we are going to be there for our 360 students whenever schools re-open. Please give today if you can.

Our Mission
The Haitian Project through its support of Louverture Cleary Schools, a national network of tuition-free, Catholic, co-educational secondary boarding schools in Haiti, provides for the education of academically-talented and motivated students from Haitian families who cannot afford the cost of their children’s education in order to maximize their potential and enable them to work toward building a Haiti where justice and peace thrive.
