Charitable Healthcare Network is hosting two webinars in June with Capstone Health Network to learn about how free and charitable clinics can utilize telehealth to help support their patients and protect the health of their staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The webinar will introduce the CapstoneCare program from Capstone Health Network, explain the benefits of implementing telemedicine, and discuss potential funding sources clinics can access for telehealth initiatives. The CDC recommends the use of telemedicine to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.

Tobacco Quite Line Webinar

Hosted by the Ohio Department of Health
This webinar, offered by Ohio Department of Health, with discuss open eligibility for all Ohioans, new service offerings and program enhancements,  overview of new My Life, My Quit  youth cessation program, program effectiveness, and tips to engage and refer tobacco users. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions of ODH staff.

CHN Member Spotlight:

Toledo/Lucas County CareNet
Toledo/ Lucas County CareNet is a charity healthcare network with a unique model that links uninsured residents to free medical care and social services. In 2019, CareNet provided 785 patients with 2,514 visits!

CareNet partners with all 8 hospitals in Lucas County to provide coordinated healthcare services for their members, all of whom are Lucas County residents not eligible for public or private healthcare coverage.  Individuals enrolled in CareNet are linked to a primary care site as a medical home and are able to receive hospital based services at no cost. They offer a variety of services including: primary care, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, oncology, orthopedics, podiatry, psychiatry, rheumatology, urology, general surgery, gynecology, colonoscopy, nephrology, and ophthalmology. 
CareNet is a part of the Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB. Their Community Health Workers (CHWs) help patients navigate the healthcare system and obtain social services based on their unique needs. By focusing on the social determinants of health in addition to medical needs, patients are able achieve far better health outcomes than if only their medical needs were considered.

ODH Dentist Loan Repayment Program

Accepting applications through July 24th, 2020
The goal of the Ohio Free Clinic Dentist Loan Repayment Program is to increase access to dental care in Ohio’s Free Clinics by providing loan repayment assistance to dentists who volunteer or work part-time in an Ohio Free Clinic. Eligible dentists can be volunteers or be employed by an Ohio Free Clinic. Read more on their website for more information or contact Star Sawicki at Star.Sawicki@odh.ohio.gov.

The Charitable Healthcare Network is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, experienced member to join our team! This position will provide administrative support to CHN programs and projects such as event planning, communications/outreach, member management, and overall organizational support. Previous experience with free/ charitable clinics strongly desired. Must be able to thrive in a flexible working environment, be self driven, and be comfortable using Google Drive systems. Mental Wellness and Support During COVID-19 Grant Opportunity


In support of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s commitment to the Investment in Ohio’s Future, the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, will offer a $1M funding opportunity for faith-based and community-based organizations. The funds will be directed toward community-based strategies for mental wellness and support during this period of COVID-19. This opportunity is seeking to support Ohio’s most vulnerable populations. Local communities can apply for resources needed to empower everyday citizens to identify signs of poor mental health and/or addiction, reduce stigma associated with those issues, provide support, and offer resources to people about where to find help.

All questions must be submitted electronically no latter than June 5, 2020 to OhioMHAS at GOFBCI@mha.ohio.gov.
