The first residents moved into the Madras apartments in May, marking a significant day in AGE+'s history. Robert, a new resident with familial ties to the area, walked into his apartment and said, "This is the nicest place I've ever lived." This full-circle moment for AGE+ proved that our mission and initiative work are steering us in a meaningful direction, and we are grateful to our partners who helped make this happen for the Madras community. As we look to the future, we hope that our model for efficiently building affordable, accessible housing will inspire more housing-challenged communities to engage local organizations to do this work. AGE+ is ready to help!

Mark your calendars: There will be a community celebration on Wednesday, July 10th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join us! Click here to register.
Initiative highlight: Because of our long-standing partnership with the Latino Community Association in Madras, we worked together to ensure the equitable rollout of apartment applications and provided Spanish language help sessions to answer questions and submit applications.
Intergenerational activity alert! Thirty Madras High School students and their teacher, Brian Martz, designed and built the storage sheds for the property! Residents were able to personally thank the students during a pizza party in the community room on the last day of school. Read more about this project in the Madras Pioneer here.

We are gaining momentum with the legislative and executive branches to establish a state directive that supports a multi-sector plan for aging. We have been conducting stakeholder outreach to statewide organizations with a strong county-level presence to gather support and secure endorsements for Shared Future Oregon. Our partners represent a broad range of sectors and communities, and our combined expertise and experience will mobilize our bold goal focus areas as we strive to build upon what is already supporting all Oregonians to live, thrive, and age in their communities. Visit our website to lend your voice to our shared future!

One of the most common challenges older adults face when trying to access the services they need is getting reliable information. Often, assistance is available, but the resources are hard to find and understand. This summer, AGE+ is conducting a "Let's Look Together" training presentation in Wasco County. The presentation explores services provided by ADRC and 211 Info, highlights their strengths, and provides guidance on accessing these resources effectively. This program has been made possible through funding from the Oregon Office of Rural Health and the Roundhouse Foundation. We hope to extend this training to other rural counties in the future.

New and Returning Funding Partners
|
Last month, AGE+ was honored and energized to receive a $200,000 Member Impact Fund grant from our partners at OnPoint Community Credit Union and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. This support will allow us to replicate our housing success and share our expertise with communities so more older Oregonians have an affordable place to call home. Read the press release here. Additionally, OnPoint granted $15,000 to launch our Leadership Exchange on Ageism programming. Thank you, OnPoint!
We'd also like to thank the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund for its $50,000 grant toward Shared Future Oregon, the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation for its $25,000 grant and the Ronald W. Naito MD Foundation for its $20,000 grant, both toward general operating support, and the Autzen Foundation for its $3,750 grant to contribute to furnishing the community rooms of our affordable housing developments.

Rogue World Music Festival
|
During the Memorial Day weekend, the Rogue World Music Festival in Jackson County raised funds to support Almeda Wildfire recovery efforts and donated the proceeds toward AGE+'s initiative to create affordable housing in Talent for older adults. We are deeply honored and humbled by this gesture from our friends at Rogue World Music. We want to thank them for their incredible partnership, belief in our model, and for helping us maximize the impact of our work on behalf of older adults.
